Today, we stand in solidarity with s*x workers around the world to remember those who have lost their lives to violence, stigma, and discrimination. 🕯️
Violence against s*x workers is fueled by criminalization, stigma, and exclusion, and it must end.

COSWRIM reaffirms its commitment to advocating for safety, dignity, justice, and human rights for all s*x workers. No one deserves violence. Everyone deserves respect, protection, and access to justice.

🟥 End the violence. End the stigma. Protect s*x workers’ rights.

Today, we join the global community to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls.
This year, we shine a light on the growing threat of digital violence, from online harassment to cyberbullying and technology, facilitated abuse. Every woman deserves safety, and every girl deserves protection, both online and offline.

As we raise our voices, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a digital world where women and girls can express themselves freely, learn without fear, and live without intimidation.
Together, we can end the violence, on every screen and in every space.

COSWRIM paid an advocacy visit to the Federal Ministry of Health, engaging with the Gender, Adolescent, School Health and Elderly (GASHE) Division. The team met with the Director, Dr. John Ovuoraye, and discussed the urgent need to strengthen the inclusion of s*x workers within national SRHR and HIV programs.

The conversation highlighted how meaningful recognition and partnership can improve access to safe health services, reduce stigma, and protect the rights and dignity of s*x workers across Nigeria. Dr. Ovuoraye expressed interest in continued engagement and welcomed further dialogue.

This is a bold step toward building a more inclusive and supportive health system for all.

Strengthening Advocacy Power Across Nigeria!

COSWRIM successfully completed a three-day Capacity Building on Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships for Sustained Impact in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Seventeen member organizations and our Secretariat team came together in a warm, collaborative learning space to build stronger advocacy and partnership skills.

Participants gained hands-on knowledge in engaging decision-makers, strengthening alliances, and pursuing sustainable funding for s*x worker-led programming. Through real-life case discussions, shared reflections, and role-play exercises, members left more confident, connected, and ready to drive change across their states.

Together, we continue to build a bold, united movement for s*x workers’ rights and visibility in Nigeria. ✊🏾❤️

COSWRIM participated in the “United for Prevention (U4P)” national convening hosted by Education as a Vaccine (EVA) under the Frontline AIDS initiative, joining national HIV prevention movements and accountability partners to advance inclusive health responses in Nigeria.

As the voice of s*x workers within the coalition, COSWRIM contributed to shaping the 2025 National Accountability Framework on HIV Prevention, helping define priority actions, strengthen monitoring systems, and ensure fair access to HIV prevention services, especially during funding constraints.

This engagement strengthened collaboration, amplified s*x worker voices at national tables, and reaffirmed our commitment to a rights-based, accountable, and inclusive response to HIV in Nigeria. ✊🏾❤️

The Coalition of s*x workers rights movements in Nigeria ( COSWRIM) acknowledges the significance of S*x Workers’ Pride Day, a day dedicated to affirming the rights, dignity, and contributions of diverse s*x workers globally. As an important yet often overlooked part of the global labor force, diverse s*x workers face unique challenges, including systemic discrimination, violence, and limited access to resources. This day is an important reminder of the need for evidence-based policy reforms that ensure s*x workers safety, rights, and well-being.
COSWRIM supports the global movement for s*x workers’ rights and stands behind calls for the decriminalization of s*x work. As a network of s*x workers, we advocate for policy reforms that recognize the legitimacy of s*x work as labor and guarantee access to healthcare, legal protections, and social services without discrimination. As our members observe S*x Workers' Pride Day, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing policies grounded in human rights and social justice for all.

This day not only celebrates the resilience and strength of s*x workers but also serves as a call to action for governments, civil society, and stakeholders to address the systemic barriers that s*x workers face. By dismantling these barriers, we can create a future where the rights and dignity of diverse s*x workers are fully recognized and protected.
