Across Yobe State, the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES) is supporting stronger livelihoods, improved livestock productivity, and greater resilience among communities whose lives and livelihoods are closely connected to livestock and agriculture.

Beyond the projects and interventions are real people, real experiences, and stories of change. Voices of Development Africa (VODA) was on the ground in Yobe State to document these stories, listen to the people, and capture the impact of LPRES through their voices and lived experiences. Through documentary storytelling and visual evidence, VODA continues to bring development closer to the people who experience it—one story at a time.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA 🇳🇬

Today, Voices of Development Africa (VODA) celebrates Nigeria’s journey, resilience, diversity, and the people who continue to shape our nation through courage, creativity, innovation, and service.

As we mark 66 years of independence, we are reminded that the Nigeria we desire is built through the stories we tell, the communities we strengthen, and the positive change we create together. May we continue to document our progress, amplify the voices of our people, and tell stories that inspire hope and development.

Happy 66th Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬

Resilience in Action:

Months after Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State unveiled the world-class Livestock Improvement and Ruga Settlement in Mafa, life now thrives where once there was uncertainty.

Over 460 households enjoy access to modern healthcare, education, and sustainable livelihoods, thanks to visionary leadership and community resilience.

Malam Loskorima, a proud son of Mafa town and the dedicated Farm Manager, whose daily commitment ensures that families and livestock flourish together — a true symbol of hope, progress, and people-centered development.

From a skill to a source of hope.

For Fanna, a woman from Kaga LGA, Borno State, learning to make liquid soap is more than a training, it is a step towards independence, dignity, and a better future for her family. With practical skills and a start-up kit through CATAI’s Income Generating Activities (IGA) programme, she is turning knowledge into opportunity, and opportunity into a livelihood.

Working hand in hand with CATAI, Voices of Development Africa (VODA) documented Fanna’s journey, capturing the human story behind the intervention. Supported by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF)- OCHA, this is one of many stories of women moving from vulnerability to possibility, one skill, one opportunity, and one new beginning at a time.

Somewhere beyond the headlines, there are people quietly doing extraordinary things, creating opportunities, restoring hope, supporting families, and helping communities find their way forward.

This is where VODA comes in.

We go where the stories live. We listen beyond the numbers, look beyond the reports, and follow the human moments that often go unseen. Working closely with the a reputable Non-governmental organization Center For Advocacy, Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) in Borno State, the VODA team has travelled through conflict-affected communities across Borno State, documenting stories around Nutrition, GBV, Child Protection, and broader Protection interventions.

Because behind every project is a person. Behind every statistic is a life. And behind every intervention is a story waiting to be told.

The Story of Change is coming.
Not just a report of what was done, but a human story of what changed, and the people who made that change possible.

STORY OF CHANGES are not found behind desks; they are found where people live, work, struggle, and create hope. We go into the field to listen, document, and tell those stories with purpose, dignity, and truth.

VODA is out on another mission, to tell the stories people often avoid telling.

The stories hidden beneath the headlines. The voices rarely heard. The realities that deserve to be seen, understood, and remembered.

We go where the story leads, listen to those who live it, and bring untold stories to light.

VODA- Giving voice to the stories that matter.
