NATIONAL IGBO STUDENTS’ UNION (NISU), RIVERS STATE CHAPTER, JOINS VOICES DEMANDING THE RELEASE OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU

In the spirit of justice, equity, and peace, the National Igbo Students’ Union (NISU), Rivers State Chapter, under the leadership of Hrm Igwe D**e C Lucky stands in full solidarity with all voices across Nigeria demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
We recognize the courageous efforts of Comrade Omoyele Sowore and other Nigerians who have chosen peaceful protest as a means to demand accountability and fairness.
As Igbo students, we believe silence in the face of injustice is betrayal. Justice is the foundation of peace, and Nigeria’s unity must rest on truth and fairness for all.

We call upon:

1. The Federal Government of Nigeria – To uphold the rule of law and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for the sake of national reconciliation and peace.
2. South-East Governors and Leaders – To speak up with courage and defend the dignity of their people.
3. Traditional Rulers and Elders – To add their voices to the moral demand for justice.
4. All Igbo Youths and Students – To remain peaceful, united, and focused as we advocate through lawful means.

Freedom is a right, not a privilege.
We do not call for rebellion but for reason; not for disunity but for fairness.

The Voice of Biafra Students Worldwide (VOBS) stands shoulder to shoulder with all courageous Nigerians in solidarity with Sowore’s peaceful protest, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been a victim of state persecution, abduction, and extraordinary rendition—forcefully taken from Kenya and illegally detained in Nigeria. For over ten years, he has been dragged through endless kangaroo trials, tortured, and held in solitary confinement, all without a single conviction. The Nigerian Court of Appeal has discharged and acquitted him, yet the government continues to flout its own laws in blatant contempt of justice and humanity.

We say it loud and clear: Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has committed no crime under any Nigerian or international law. His only “offense” is daring to speak the truth about oppression, corruption, and the systematic marginalization of his people.

Let it be known: self-determination is not a crime! It is a fundamental human right, recognized by Article 1 of the United Nations Charter and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Every people have the right to determine their political future, control their resources, and decide the path of their destiny.

We, the Biafran youth, will no longer remain silent in the face of injustice, hatred, and calculated subjugation. The Nigerian state has, time and again, shown that it has no place for equality, fairness, or justice for the Igbo people. We have been denied opportunities, vilified, and targeted, not because we lack ability, but because of who we are.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s call for self-determination is a call for freedom, for dignity, and for the rebirth of a people who have been pushed to the margins for too long. We echo his message — we need a system that works, a homeland that allows us to live in peace, to grow, and to express our God-given talents without fear or oppression.

We refuse to be slaves in a system that treats us as enemies. We refuse to be silent while injustice becomes law.

VICTIMS OF ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCE

Today is world's remembrance day for the victims of enforced disappearance.
Today we remember our brothers who are still missing after being picked by the Nigerian security operatives few years ago.

Today we talk about Comr Onyegbula Solomon a young graduate of Alvan Ikoku college of education Owerri who established a printing press after his studies from which he takes care of his mother and other siblings.
Comr. Solomon Onyegbula was a graduate of political science whose only crime is being a member of IPOB, being one of the leaders of Voice of Biafran Students and a social media advocate of self determination.
Since 2021 after his enforced disappearance, IPOB legal team secured a victory in court ordering Nigerian government to release the young man with compensation running into millions. Till today, Comr Solomon was not released and nobody including the lawyers have set eyes on him which goes to show that there is possibility that Solomon is no longer alive.

Today we talk of Comr. Micheal Obieze a young Engineering graduate from Abia State Polytechnic. Micheal Obieze hails from Abagana in Anambra State but resided in Abịa State before his enforced disappearance by the Nigerian security team. His only crime again was being a member of IPOB and one of the leaders of Voice of Biafran Students Worldwide seeking for the self determination of the Biafran people.

Till date neither Comr Solomon, Engr Micheal has been located in any security office or detention in Nigeria and no explanation to the people on what has become of these promising young men.

As we mark the international day for victims of enforced disappearance, it is pertinent that we rekindle the call for justice on the cases of Comr Solomon Onyegbula, Engr Micheal Ọkpara and many youths still at large only for being member of IPOB and engaging in peaceful agitation for the freedom of their people and their future.

Intersociety Punctures Gov Soludo’s Maryland (USA) Speech Exonerating Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen In Anambra Forest/Farmland Insecurity



…. accuses his Government of shielding Jihadist Herdsmen since 2022 and dangerously dragging Anambra State into Federal Government’s (Fulani) Ranching compliant State” and sitting the State on a keg of jihadist gunpowder



Onitsha, Eastern Nigeria, Tuesday, July 8, 2025



The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law Nigeria’s leading research and investigative advocacy group with advocacy track record in the promotion of freedom of religion or worship and respect and preservation of ethnic identity, among other civil liberties in Nigeria since 2008 is strongly puncturing Gov Charles Soludo’s Maryland speech in USA, exonerating Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen in Anambra’s Forest and Farmland Insecurity. The Gov had during his ongoing trip to the United States of America, the world’s foremost religious freedom respecter and protector country; claimed that “out of 99.5% of those arrested by his Government in various camps belonging to kidnappers across the State, none is a member of the killer Herdsmen”. The Gov also claimed that “all the reports about (Jihadist) Fulani Herdsmen occupying different forest locations across the State are false narratives”. The Anambra Gov made the statement in faraway Maryland, USA on Monday evening of July 7, 2025. A video clip of the statement is attached.



In as much as Gov Charles Chukwuma Soludo is commendably “a bad road network fixing and free primary and secondary school education providing Gov” who has greater chance of winning the November 8, 2025 Anambra Governorship Election; the Gov is gravely endangering security and safety of the State and her citizens, especially their present and future security and safety. The above is going by his Government’s steady kid gloves and lukewarm attitudes or approaches to Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their genocidal activities across the State since the inception of his Administration on March 17, 2022. The above is to the extent that it is not only that Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen are an integral part of the Anambra State Forest and Farmland insecurity and other violence-generated unsafe conditions, perpetrating not less than 30% of violent crimes across the State but also the Government of Anambra State under Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo as Governor has steadily been shielding Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their genocidal activities across the State since 2022. The worst and most dangerous part of it is that the Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo led Government of Anambra State has dragged the State into Nigeria’s Federal Government (Fulani Cattle) Ranching”; thereby making the State the newest “South-East Fulani RUGA or Ranching State”. Anambra State, as a result, now sits on a keg of jihadist gunpowder, with far-reaching consequences and grave dangers of the State’s Christians and Traditional Institutions including Igbo Cultural Heritage facing total annihilation in the next 50 years or by the Year 2075.



For clarity and laying the facts on the ground, we at Intersociety are inviting the general public particularly the good citizens and indigenes of Anambra State to use sound logic and critical thinking to critically study the link to the Punch Newspaper’s Special Investigative Report of Monday, June 23, 2025; titled: “Pastoral Crisis: 11 States (including Anambra State) Embrace FG Ranching Plan As Killings Surge”; in which the Anambra State Commissioner for Information boldly confirmed the State as “having become a Fulani Cattle Ranching designated State”. This, the State did blindly, selfishly and strongly condemnably, turning blind eyes to the ongoing ceaseless massacre of defenseless Christians in Benue and Plateau States-where the Jihadist Herdsmen were allowed to settle some years ago following the so called “Peace and Peaceful Co-existence Agreement”; only for them to turn their settlements into anti-Christian terror camps. It is our strong estimation that about 60% or more, of forest camps belonging to violent criminals across the State including about 99% belonging to Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen are yet to be accessed or raided by security forces.

Contrary to the strongly questionable position of Gov Charles Chukwuma Soludo in faraway United States, his Administration seems to have perpetually lived in false denial over the menace of the Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen across the State. His assertion that “none of the 99.5% of those arrested in Anambra State is a member of killer Herdsmen” is vexatious and does not hold any water, especially against the backdrop of the fact that not less than 90% of intelligence briefing supplied to him as Anambra Gov by conventional security and intelligence agencies and their operators including police, secret police and military are grossly biased, partisan, unscientific and unverifiable. It is not only that there was a strong accusation in June 2021 against Governor Soludo’s immediate past Commissioner for Homeland Security, accusing him of “land procurement for the Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their Patrons in some communities across the State including some communities in Awka South, Awka North, Oyi, Ayamelum, Orumba South and North, Dunukofia, etc.” The worse of it is that the State Government grossly lacks crime and intelligence detective devices or technological equipment and skills including drones and advanced secret cameras. The State Government has also severally been found to have joined conventional security establishments in the State and beyond in shielding these jihadists and shifting blames over their atrocities to “militant IPOB or ESN or Unknown Gunmen”.



A clear case in point was the News-Band Report of April 23, 2024, which reported how a family of three: wife, husband and maid were abducted by Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and taken into Ukwulu Forest where they were held captive and r***d for three days until payment of N15m ransom was made leading to their release. The family had returned home to Ukwulu in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State for their daughter’s marriage, during which they were waylaid by the Jihadists and freed after three days of captivity and r**e on payment of N15m ransom by their son-in-law. The captive three family members also suffered bruises in their respective private parts including the husband’s a**s inflicted with several r**e wounds. A certain Commissioner in Gov Soludo’s Cabinet was alerted immediately and an SOS was sent to the Gov through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, who turned around and swiftly a statement, describing the abducted and freed Family’s SOS and their ordeal as “another concocted narrative, void of credibility and mischievously syndicated to paint a scenario of insecurity within the peaceful State”.

WE ARE ONE PEOPLE: THE BLOOD OF IGBO MEN SLAIN IN ANAMBRA CRIES OUT FOR JUSTICE

ISSUED BY EMMA POWERFUL, SPOKESPERSON/MEDIA AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB)

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the supreme leadership of our indomitable and unjustly detained leader, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemns in the strongest terms the senseless killing of our Igbo brothers of Ebonyi extraction in Anambra State. This cowardly and despicable act is not only a tragic loss of innocent life but also a deliberate attempt to sow discord among one people who share a common ancestry, identity, pain, and destiny.

Let it be stated unequivocally: those killed were not "Ebonyi indigenes" in Anambra. They were Igbo sons murdered on Igbo soil. We reject every attempt—however subtle or overt—to segregate, fragment or provincialise the Igbo identity. These young men were our flesh and blood, and we mourn them as we would mourn our own brothers. No contrived boundary, no colonial relic of state creation, and no manipulative political categorisation can erase the fact that Igbos are one indivisible people.

IPOB has repeatedly warned that enemies of Ndigbo—both internal traitors and external collaborators—are working overtime to pit Igbo against Igbo. Nothing pleases our adversaries more than the sight of fratricidal strife in Alaigbo. They know that a divided people cannot resist conquest. This is why they sponsor political errand boys, faceless enforcers, and mercenary commentators to further deepen these divisions.

We therefore issue a stern warning to those who, either for pecuniary gain or warped ambition, lend their voices to this wicked narrative of tribal sub-categorisation. You are playing directly into the hands of our collective enemies. You are strengthening those who wish to keep Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unjustly detained and Igboland perpetually insecure. Be warned: IPOB will hold you accountable before history and posterity.

We equally call out the South East Governors Forum, whose cowardice and betrayal have emboldened the enemies of our people. Instead of rallying to defend Igboland and secure our people under a unified vision, these so-called governors are busy aligning with Abuja power brokers and allocating security architecture to untrained, violent, and unaccountable vigilante groups that have now turned their guns on the very people they were supposedly formed to protect.

Our preliminary findings point to these illegitimate vigilante groups—set up and funded by state governors without community consent—as perpetrators of this massacre. IPOB demands an immediate and independent investigation. All those found culpable must face justice. This is not just a crime against the victims; it is an attack on the soul of the Igbo nation.

Let the world recall that Ebonyi is the land of Dr. Akanu Ibiam, a revered son of Igboland and founder of apex Igbo organisation Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, who rejected British knighthood and returned it to Queen Elizabeth II in defiance of Britain's complicity in the genocide against Biafrans during the civil war. That heroic act was not for Ebonyi alone. It was for all Igbos. It is a shame that in the land of such legacy, governors now compete in betrayal while innocent sons of the soil are slaughtered.

To every mother grieving, to every father weeping, to every sister mourning her brother today—we say: we stand with you. Your pain is our pain. Their blood shall not be in vain. IPOB remains implacably opposed to all forms of violence, and we will intensify our efforts to work with communities, elders, and honest security professionals to root out this barbarism from our land.

In conclusion, we urge restraint from our people, especially from those being lured to make inciting comments aimed at pitching one Igbo community against another. Such utterances, whether born of ignorance or mischief, serve only the interest of those who profit from our division.

We are Ndigbo—not Anambra, not Ebonyi, not Imo, not Enugu, not Abia, not Delta, not Rivers, not Benue, not Kogi, not Akwa Ibom, not Cross River, not Edo, not Bayelsa—we are one family. United we stand; divided, we fall. Let us never again give our enemies cause to celebrate.

Long live the memory of the slain.
Long live the Igbo Nation.
Long live Biafra.

IPOB’s Biafra Agitation: Discipline and Intellectual Sophistication Is the Code

For those with fading memory or shaken resolve, let this be your awakening: IPOB is not a group of reactionaries or criminals. We are a disciplined, intellectually driven liberation movement, built on purpose, truth, and sacrifice; not cheap propaganda, not bribery, and certainly not fear.

The Biafra agitation under the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu led Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) is not headed by men who can be swayed through blackmail or bought with government tokens. The movement is led by men of steel; mentally tough, morally upright, and spiritually committed. Every major strategy deployed by IPOB; whether in civil disobedience, diplomatic outreach, or media advocacy, reflects a movement governed by deep reasoning and long-term vision, not sentiment.

We do not act on impulse. We act by principle. We are not moved by trending narratives but by historical justice and futuristic wisdom.

When the Nigeria state failed to crush IPOB by military force, it turned to more dangerous weapons of psychological warfare, infiltration, sponsored lies, and blackmail campaigns. Ofcourse, this is the pattern of every oppressive regime when they meet a movement too grounded to fall. But to those who now lend ears to these deceitful voices, we ask, have you forgotten who we are?

IPOB is not built by cowards. Our pillars are not soft minds, but unshakable convictions forged in fire.

Those whispering today that IPOB is divided or weak are either agents of our enemies or victims of low intellect. IPOB’s leadership, the Directorate of State(DOS) under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, remains a fortress of principle. If you knew what Nnamdi Kanu endures in DSS detention and yet remains unmoved, you would understand that this agitation is beyond emotion. It is destiny.

We have chosen pain over betrayal, silence over compromise, hardship over convenience - because our mission is sacred. We are men who can live through any suffering, but we will never accept an easy option that undermines our vision for Biafra.

Let it also be clear: IPOB is not a marketplace for personal interests or dubious ambitions. This is a movement for freedom, for justice, and for posterity. Those seeking profit, fame, or political reward in IPOB will soon find themselves isolated and exposed.

We are not perfect, but we are principled. We make mistakes, but never betrayal. We are strategic, not emotional. This is not street noise, it is a calculated, disciplined liberation drive.

To the fainthearted, you are free to bow out. To the doubters, you may stand aside. But know this, IPOB is unshaken. Our code remains discipline. Our weapon remains intellect. Our destiny remains Biafra.

We are IPOB.

We do not kneel. We do not beg. We fight with truth, and we win with time.
