AGAIN
Spiritual overconfidence is a dangerous trap. When you believe that you are strong enough, mature enough, or righteous enough to never stumble, you have already positioned yourself for a fall. Many who witnessed great power and deliverance still fell along the way. Thinking you stand firm because of your own track record, your own discipline, or your own understanding is the very mindset that leads to failure. True stability does not come from self-assurance. It comes from clinging to the Lord Jesus Christ moment by moment, recognizing that your own strength is never sufficient. Pride is the soil where temptation thrives. When you stop examining your heart, you become blind to your own weakness. Active, ongoing watchfulness is necessary every day. A humble heart says, "I could fall today if I am not careful." That awareness is not fear; it is wisdom. The proud person stops praying before difficult conversations, stops fleeing temptation, and assumes they can handle far more than they actually can. The antidote is daily self-examination, asking to be shown where you are weak and to be kept from trusting your own strength.
The only safe way to stand is to stand in the Lord, not in yourself. You are not meant to live in paralyzing fear of falling, but rather to shift your confidence from self to Savior. Your steadfastness comes from knowing that your foundation is not your own performance. So examine your life, flee pride, and never assume you are beyond falling. But remember that when you do stumble, grace is waiting. A way of escape is always provided. The ultimate lesson is not self-doubt but rather it is complete dependence on God.
1 Corinthians 10:12 - Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. (NKJV)
