From Core Life Skills to Career and Enterprise Readiness

Today, we conclude the second phase of the Cloneshouse Foundation Capacity Strengthening Programme after an engaging week of learning across the Employability and Entrepreneurship Tracks.

Building on the five-day Core Life Skills phase, participants explored practical ways to prepare for the workplace, identify career opportunities, develop business ideas, and turn their skills into meaningful economic pathways.

The sessions also provided space for young people to share their experiences, reflect on their aspirations, ask important questions, and take practical steps towards the futures they want to build.

At Cloneshouse Foundation, we believe young people need more than information. They need relevant skills, supportive learning environments, mentorship, and opportunities for their voices to shape their growth.

While this phase concludes today, the journey continues through mentorship, practice, and the application of the knowledge gained.

On Wednesday, Cloneshouse participated in the World Youth Skills Day 2026 event at the United Nations House, Abuja, under the theme, “Skills for a Shared Future.”

The event provided an important platform to discuss the ongoing review of the Nigeria Youth Employment Action Plan (NIYEAP) and what the revised plan must deliver for young Nigerians.

Skills training is essential, but it is not enough. Young people also need practical pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, finance, mentorship, emerging digital and green opportunities, and decent work.

The NIYEAP review presents an opportunity to build a more responsive national framework shaped by the real experiences, aspirations, and employment barriers of young people across Nigeria. For this reason, meaningful youth participation must remain at the heart of the review process.
