Here are the answers to this week’s trivia. Learn, Share and Empower!

Did you know that LACON means the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria? It is the government agency responsible for providing free legal services to Nigerians who cannot afford a lawyer, covering both criminal and civil cases.

📖 What does LACON do?
• The Legal Aid Council of Nigeria is responsible for:
• Providing free legal representation in criminal and some civil cases
• Offering legal advice and counseling
• Promoting access to justice for vulnerable and low-income individuals
• Supporting human rights protection
• Running legal awareness programs for citizens

Partners West Africa Nigeria PWAN supports justice through programs like the Police Duty Solicitor Scheme (PDSS), where:
• Lawyers are deployed to police stations
• They provide immediate legal assistance to suspects
• They help prevent unlawful detention and rights violations

👉 This is important because many people are arrested without access to lawyers at the early stage.

PWAN works broadly to improve access to justice, strengthen institutions, and protect human rights across Nigeria.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and thank you Musa For your quick and correct answer.

We are excited to introduce a brand-new segment on our website -"Lessons From the Field"

This segment offers an honest, ground-level perspective from our Program Staff, Oreoluwa Fatuyi as she reflects on her work with beneficiaries and stakeholders. The realities they witness, the questions they carry, and the lessons that shape their practice.

In our debut edition, she poses a question that sits at the heart of our work:
"What does justice truly look like for a survivor of gender-based violence , beyond the courtroom?"

Through a candid reflection from a recent field visit, she explores the uncomfortable gap between legal accountability and real-world protection and asks us all to consider what it truly means to deliver justice for the most vulnerable.

Here are the answers to this week’s trivia. Learn, Share and Empower!

Did you know that Nigeria reduced the age limits for political office through the Not Too Young To Run Act?
Signed into law in 2018 by Muhammadu Buhari, the Act amended the Constitution to make political participation more accessible to young Nigerians.

Key changes include:
• President: 40 → 35 years
• Governor: 35 → 30 years
• House of Representatives: 30 → 25 years
• State House of Assembly: 30 → 25 years

The aim of this reform is to encourage greater youth participation in politics and amplify the voices of younger citizens in leadership.

In line with this vision, Partners West Africa Nigeria works to strengthen citizen engagement, promote accountability, and empower young people to actively participate in governance and justice processes, contributing to a more inclusive and participatory society.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and thank you @……. For your quick and correct answer.
