HEALTH PROMOTION AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGE INITIATIVE
REPORT OF THE FIRST MEETING HELD ON 4TH JANUARY, 2026

The first meeting of the Health Promotion and Behavioral Change Initiative for the year 2026 was held on Saturday, 4th January, 2026, at the organization’s office.
The meeting commenced at about 3:00 pm.

The meeting was chaired by the Executive Director, Mr. Usman Emmanuel, and opened with a prayer said by Musa Muhammad.

Thereafter, the Executive Director delivered his goodwill message and New Year wishes to all members present.

He proceeded to read out the agenda for the meeting, which was unanimously adopted by the house.

The Executive Director, Usman Emmanuel, then presented the 2026 Work Plan of the Initiative. During the presentation, Musa Muhammad made minor corrections to the document.

Following deliberations, the work plan was endorsed by the members and adopted as the official working document for the year 2026.

In his remarks, the Executive Director encouraged all members to be active, committed, and proactive throughout the year to ensure the successful implementation and actualization of the approved work plan.

After exhausting all items on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned to the second quarter of the year.

The meeting ended with a closing prayer offered by Rumasau’ Muhammed.

Attendance at the meeting was very encouraging.

We also wish to formally announce that Health Promotion and Behavioral Change Initiative will be holding her first Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting as follows:

Public Health Tips on Contemporary Health Issues

1. Mental Health and Stress Management

Prioritize rest—aim for 7–8 hours of sleep daily.

Practice simple stress-relief habits like deep breathing, short walks, or quiet time.

Stay connected with supportive friends, family, or groups.

Seek help early if you feel overwhelmed—mental health is as important as physical health.

2. Healthy Eating in a Modern Fast-Food World

Choose fresh foods: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

Reduce intake of sugary drinks and processed snacks.

Drink enough water—6–8 glasses daily.

Read food labels to avoid excessive salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats.

3. Preventing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)

Conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and stroke are on the rise.

Check your blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight regularly.
