To create an effective and efficient communication platform that would enhance socio-economic development at the grassroots level. MISSION OF GEDF
Create a rendezvous for business and trade among the communities in Nigeria;
Identify, collate and disseminate information on opportunities at the grassroots level;
Facilitate exchange of goods and services through the information platform;
Create peer review opportunities;
Provide information that will facilitate and create business opportunities at the grassroots level;
Encourage the third tier of government in Nigeria to be proactive towards the realization of the economic potentials in their respective Local Government Areas. Hosting of an annual event titled: Grassroot Economic Development Forum;
Organizing exhibitions;
Provide opportunities for investors, SMEs and others to interact and improve their businesses;
Provide platform for employment and empowerment;
Create a monitoring platform for people at the grassroots level to know the performance of their leaders (Federal, States and Local Government) at thegrassroots level;
Through our development communication effort, we shall emphasize all areas that will enhance the socio-economic development of communities. Our mission is clear in the sense that it aims at grassroots development. The GEDF shall therefore hold an annual Forum to be attended by stakeholders at the grassroots level. The GEDF shall undoubtedly provide platforms online to boost trade among individuals, groups and organizations. It shall serve as a market where information is given and obtained by buyers and sellers of goods and services. It is indeed a potential, robust platform for business activities. Do you really know that much of the opportunities at the grassroots levels are not available to potential investors, buyers and sellers? GEDF plans to bridge this gap to facilitate the realization of robust information management and business opportunities. In Nigeria, besides crude oil, much of the natural and human resources are lying waste until recently when we are beginning to wake up. The government must therefore expedite action on the non oil economy so that the sleeping economic potentials of Nigeria will wake up. The mono-economic situation of Nigeria’s economy has put the country in economic stress because of the fall in the price of oil and reduced patronage in the international market. If the abundant resources of Nigeria were developed, the economic situation would have been treated with a Nigerian parlance called “No Shaking!” meaning there is no threat. The Forum is open to all those that are interested in the socio-economic development of the grassroots level. It is not a forum for political campaigns but as the case may be political issues as it concerns fulfillment of campaign promises on grassroots development shall be of great interest to the Forum. HOW SHALL THE GEDF OPERATE? GEDF shall operate substantially online and also provide opportunities for convergence in forums such as:-
GEDF National Forum;
Exhibitions;
Presence in Trade Fairs;
Other economic or business related functions. The online platform shall be operational throughout the year and shall continue to provide the rendezvous for business and economic activities to both domestic and international business stakeholders. GEDF shall be available to render consultancy services or facilitate such upon request. GEDF shall also serve as support to government economic structure as it will help to boost business activities and further provide information to boost statistics. GEDF shall reach out to the Nigerian youths with a view to reducing unemployment. Basically, GEDF provides a big opportunity for online Trade Fair.
