As we observe the 60th anniversary of the international literacy day, we reflect on the achievements of the Abuja Global Shaper Hub in the Each One Read One project.

Literacy remains a fundamental human right, and we will continue to play our part in increasing literacy rates in the Nigerian populace.

Here are two powerful reasons to join the Recycle for Education project today, according to Ifechi Anikwe (Ifechi Anikwe), the Hub's Climate and Environment Lead.

One, you help clean the environment. Nigeria generates nearly 2.5 million tonnes of plastic waste every year and we’re pulling as much of that off the streets as we can.

Two, you're helping to fund a child's future because every single bottle collected helps send a young Nigerian back to or keep them in school.

Our target is collecting and recycling 10,000kg of plastic waste. It’s not going to be easy, but together, we can do it! 💪🏽💙

We are taking everyday plastic waste and channeling it directly into funding education for children at the New Kuchingoro IDP camp. Our goal is massive: 10,000kg of plastic!

Abuja Dialogue Series was a phenomenal success!

On Thursday, we convened at the UN House for a highly impactful conversation on "IP as a Catalyst for Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship". In strategic partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)), we successfully bridged the gap between young creators and global policy.

From tech founders to digital artists, the room was filled with young leaders ready to protect and scale their ideas. A massive thank you to our brilliant speakers Oluwatobiloba Moody Oluwatobiloba Moody and Abdul Argungu Abubakar for delivering actionable, high value insights.

What an incredible evening of insight, and purpose!

On Friday, the Abuja Hub had the distinct honor of hosting the UN's first Global Advocate for Peace, Maryam Bukar Hassan Maryam Hassan Bukar, for our Meet The Leader Series.

Exploring the theme, Leading with Purpose in a Changing World, she delivered a masterclass on the intersection of creative expression, civic engagement, and community healing. We left the room with a renewed understanding of what it means to drive the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda forward, not just in policy, but in our everyday actions.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, engaged, and brought that unmatched Abuja Hub energy. The work continues, and we are moving with clear intention.
