PIND is a Nigerian non-profit organization building partnerships for peace and equitable economic development in the Niger Delta.

The Foundation for Partnerships Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) is a Nigerian non-profit organization working to promote peace and equitable economic growth in Nigeria's Niger Delta region by forging multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder partnerships at the regional, national and international levels. PIND works closely with numerous partners to implement collaborative market-based, community-owned programs to mitigate conflicts and boost economic opportunities for local businesses, ensuring that economic progress occurs in a systemic, inclusive, and sustainable manner. PIND’s projects span the nine states in the region: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Ondo and Rivers, with special focus on the underserved and hard to reach coastal communities of the region that are most forgotten in development programming. At PIND, we strongly believe that no single organization can solve the complex and interconnected development challenges in the Niger Delta. 🌍 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠—𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭.

Declining traditional development financing, shifting donor priorities and growing competition for funding are creating new sustainability challenges for NGOs, CSOs and other development organizations.

So, what happens when grants alone can no longer sustain the work?

On October 5–6, 2026, PIND is bringing organizations together in Warri for a Peer-to-Peer Fund Diversification Workshop to share experiences and explore more resilient approaches to financing development impact.

🌉 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬? 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬.

At the Bridges Project HCDT Impact Summit in Port Harcourt, PIND and the Ford Foundation brought together HCDTs, regulators, oil and gas companies, and civil society to answer three questions:

💡 What did we learn?
➡️ What happens next?

The Summit moved from evidence to action, producing a Sustainability Framework and validated communiqué outlining commitments and next steps for stronger HCDT governance, accountability, community participation and stakeholder coordination.

For PIND, the goal is clear: ensure the tools, relationships and practices built through Bridges continue to deliver for host communities.

Peace gives communities the stability to live, work and pursue opportunities. Sustaining it requires trusted relationships, strong local networks and people equipped to address tensions before they escalate.

Across the Niger Delta, PIND works through its Integrated Peace and Development Unit (IPDU) and Partners 4 Peace (P4P) Network to strengthen early warning and response, dialogue, conflict prevention and community-led peacebuilding.

On this International Day of Peace, we celebrate the peace actors building trust, bridging differences and helping communities become safer and more resilient.

HCDTs have valuable experiences to share—and lessons that can help others navigate similar challenges.

At PIND’s 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 in Port Harcourt, HCDT representatives and stakeholders, CSO partners, and PIND exchanged practical experiences from across the five Bridges focal states.

🚤 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬

Every trip on the waterways carries people, goods and livelihoods. Behind every safe journey are operators who need the right knowledge, skills and preparedness to manage the risks.

In May, PIND, in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), brought boat operators and jetty personnel from Delta, Bayelsa and Ondo States together in Warri for a Boat Safety, Security and Risk Management Training.

Through practical demonstrations and simulations, participants strengthened their skills in safety protocols, emergency response, navigation risk management and maritime security.

Because safer waterways begin with people who are prepared to protect themselves and those they carry.

𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝?

Across Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Ondo, and Rivers States, PIND’s Bridges Project has worked to strengthen awareness, participation, accountability, and stakeholder engagement around the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the effective functioning of Host Community Development Trusts (HCDTs).

To ensure that the project’s results reflect the realities of those at the heart of the intervention, PIND recently convened community stakeholders, civil society organizations, M&E associates, academics, and other professionals in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, to validate the Bridges Project’s Outcome Monitoring findings.

Participants examined evidence from across the five states and contributed perspectives on PIA awareness, community participation, HCDT governance, transparency and accountability, inclusion, stakeholder engagement, and community development outcomes.

Because impact is not only about what was done. It is about what changed for people, institutions, and communities.

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 🌱

Every productive harvest starts with access to quality seeds and planting materials. Yet for many farmers, getting certified planting materials when and where they need them remains a challenge.

PIND Foundation and the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) have signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding to help close this gap and strengthen Nigeria’s seed system.

Through the partnership, we will work to:
🌱 Expand certified community seed multiplication across the Niger Delta
🔎 Bring seed inspection services closer to producers
📈 Strengthen local seed enterprises and investment
🌾 Improve access to quality cassava, banana, yam and priority vegetable planting materials
👩🏾‍🌾 Support Community Seed Entrepreneurs under WISE to supply certified cassava planting materials to women producers

This is about more than producing more seeds. It is about building a stronger system where quality assurance, viable enterprises and markets work together to serve farmers better.

How do we build agricultural systems where farmers are more resilient, businesses can access markets and finance, and young people and women have greater opportunities to thrive?

At the recently concluded Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, PIND Foundation engaged with stakeholders around three priorities:
✅ Markets & Finance: Creating stronger market and financing opportunities for MSMEs, producers, and partners under our Market Systems Development and WISE programs.
✅ Climate Resilience: Exploring approaches that can help Niger Delta farmers adapt to climate change and build more sustainable agricultural practices.
✅ Youth & Women: Expanding opportunities for young people and women as entrepreneurs, producers, and leaders across agricultural value chains.

The Forum may have ended in Kigali, but the work continues in the Niger Delta—turning conversations and connections into stronger markets, resilient agricultural systems, and sustainable livelihoods.

Representatives from the Mastercard Foundation and IDH recently joined PIND in Bayelsa State to meet young women and farmers transforming the cassava value chain through the WISE Program.

The visit provided an opportunity to hear firsthand about the challenges participants face, from accessing farms and markets to improving productivity and incomes and to explore solutions including climate-resilient cassava varieties, safeguarding support, and pathways for young women to access higher-value opportunities across the value chain.

The challenges are real, but so is the progress.

Through local knowledge, context-specific solutions and strong partnerships, WISE is helping young women build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to stronger local economies.

This is partnership in action. 🤝🏾
