THE FIGHT AGAINST HAPATATIS

The Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway in collaboration with other clubs took a bold step in the fight against Hepatitis.

Many don’t know their status until it’s too late. So we brought free screening, education, and vaccines directly to the people.

We were able to:
- Test and counsel community members for free
- Break the stigma and myths around Hepatitis
- Protect families through awareness and vaccination

This is what Rotary does. We identify a need, and we act.
We believe in a healthier community, and we’re proud to lead the way.

A NEW DAWN FOR SERVICE

The Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway has a new captain at the helm!

We are delighted to announce the successful investiture of Rotarian Kennedy Iwundu as the 12th President of our club.

The ceremony was a beautiful display of fellowship and service, well attended by Distinguished Dignitaries, District Officers, Past Presidents, Esteemed Rotarians, Friends, Family and Well-wishers.

President Kennedy Iwundu, we celebrate your commitment and vision. As you lead us this Rotary year, we pledge our support to achieving greater impact in our community and beyond.

One era ended with pride, another began with purpose. The atmosphere was filled with Joy as immediate past President Rotarian Dr Sunday Fasipe handed over the mantle of leadership to The current President Rotarian Dr Kennedy Iwundu. RI President, District Governor, Distinguished Past District Governors,
Past Presidents, Fellow Gatewarians,
Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Today, 1st July 2026, we turn a new page.

It is my honor and responsibility to accept the mantle of President of the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year. I do not take this gavel for granted. It is a trust to serve, to lead, and to deliver.

Our charge this year is direct: CREATE LASTING IMPACT.

And at Rotary, lasting impact is never random. It is built through focus. This year, the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway will align our service to all Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary International. We will be a club that touches every part of human need in Kubwa and beyond.

Here is our Gateway 2026/2027 Agenda:

1. Promoting Peace.
We will create platforms for dialogue, tolerance, and understanding. Through youth peace forums and community projects, Gateway will be a voice for unity in a divided world.

2. Fighting Disease.
We will lead and support health interventions. From disease prevention campaigns to health screenings in Kubwa, we will help communities live longer, healthier lives.

3. Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene.
Water is life. This year we will prioritize WASH projects — borehole repairs, hygiene education in schools, and access to safe water for families who need it most.

4. Saving Mothers and Children.
Every mother and child deserves to thrive. We will partner for maternal health outreaches, antenatal support, and nutrition education to reduce preventable deaths and give every child a strong start.

5. Supporting Education.
Under Basic Education and Literacy, we will invest in our future. Reading programs, school supplies, teacher support, and mentorship will be our tools to unlock potential.

6. Growing Local Economies.
Poverty ends where opportunity begins. Through Community Economic Development, we will provide skills training, support micro-enterprises, and empower women and youth to earn with dignity.

7. Protecting the Environment.
We do not inherit the earth from our children; we borrow it from them. Gateway will lead tree planting drives, clean-up campaigns, and sustainability education to protect Kubwa for the next generation.

Fellow Gatewarians, I cannot carry these seven burdens alone. I need your ideas, your time, your networks, and your commitment. If every Gatewarian gives a little more this year, together we will give Kubwa a lot more.

My promise to you: I will lead with focus, serve with humility, and hold us accountable to this vision. By 30th June 2027, let the record show that the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway created lasting impact across all Seven Areas of Focus.

Let us begin this work.

Finally, to Rtn. Sunday Fasipe, the outgoing President, thank you for your distinguished service in 2025/2026. You led us through an eventful year, and you handed over a club that is strong and united. We build from the foundation you laid.

For service above self. For our community. For a Rotary legacy that lasts.
Thank you, and may the 2026/2027 year be our most impactful yet.

As today marks the conclusion of my tenure as President of the Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway, my heart is filled with profound gratitude to God and to every member who made this remarkable journey both meaningful and rewarding. Serving as your 11th President has been one of the greatest privileges of my Rotary life, and I will always cherish the confidence and support you bestowed upon me.

I sincerely appreciate my dedicated principal officers, the esteemed members of the Board, committee chairpersons, and every club member for your unwavering commitment, wise counsel, teamwork, and sacrifice throughout this Rotary year. Every achievement we recorded was the result of our collective effort, shared vision, and steadfast belief in the ideal of Service Above Self.

To each of you, thank you for your friendship, encouragement, constructive criticism, and cooperation.

You transformed challenges into opportunities and strengthened our club through your selfless service and unity of purpose.

As I hand over the mantle of leadership, I do so with immense pride and confidence in the future of our beloved club. I urge us all to extend the same loyalty and wholehearted support to our incoming President, Rotarian Dr. Kennedy Iwundu, as we continue to build a stronger, more impactful Rotary Club of Abuja Kubwa Gateway.
