Why Legislative Oversight Matters .

Legislative oversight is more than just a constitutional duty it’s a powerful tool for accountability and good governance.

When the legislature actively monitors government agencies and public institutions, it ensures that policies are not just made, but properly implemented. Oversight helps to prevent misuse of public funds and keeps public officials answerable to the people they serve.

Most importantly, effective oversight ensures that government actions align with the needs and welfare of citizens.

As we count down to Day of the African Child (DAC) 2026, we convened a focused strategy session to strengthen our approach and sharpen our impact.

With the theme “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for every Child in Africa,” our discussion centered on setting clear priorities, fine-tuning our action points and positioning for meaningful engagement come June 16th.

The goal is simple but urgent: every child deserves safe water, proper sanitation and a healthy future.
