Advocating for Policies to Fund Prosthetics in Nigeria✅

In Nigeria, thousands of amputees face barriers to living dignified and productive lives due to the high cost of prosthetic limbs. For many, mobility and independence remain out of reach, leaving them trapped in cycles of poverty and exclusion.

I believe the need for policy intervention for accessing prosthetics should not be a privilege but a fundamental right. We call on policymakers to:

▪️Prioritize Prosthetic Funding: Allocate resources to ensure indigent amputees receive the prosthetic limbs they need.

▪️Incorporate Prosthetics into Health Insurance: Include prosthetic devices in public health schemes to make them affordable and accessible.

▪️Promote Local Manufacturing: Support local production and training of technicians to reduce costs and create jobs.

▪️Raise Public Awareness: Launch campaigns to destigmatize disability and highlight the importance of mobility aids.

👌Why It Matters
Funding prosthetics is an investment in human potential. It restores dignity, promotes inclusion, and empowers amputees to participate in the economy and society.
