Day One of the Regenerative Agriculture Training

The training began with the theoretical foundations of regenerative agriculture, focusing on sustainable practices that improve soil health and farm productivity.

Participants learned about:
• Minimal soil disturbance and the dangers of excessive ploughing
• Mulching and soil cover management
• Composting and organic liquid fertilizers
• Natural pest control and crop rotation
• The Pfumvudza principles and the Well-Watered Garden concept

Farmers were also introduced to ginger farming, including its agronomic practices, yield potential, and market opportunities, as well as organic production of staple crops like maize, beans, and yam.

A key lesson was the “Eating the Elephant” theory — breaking big farming goals into smaller, achievable steps.

CROWY PROJECT: Empowering Women and Youth for Sustainable Livelihoods

The Crowy Project, powered by Olam Agri in partnership with Scaad Initiative, Sahel Support Foundation, and Elikizi Foundation, has officially commenced its community based empowerment program in Ago 2, Obi LGA, Nasarawa State.

Our journey began with a community entry visit to the traditional leader of Ago 2, where we received a warm welcome, guidance, and full community endorsement for the life-changing activities ahead. This foundational step ensured cultural alignment, inclusiveness, and community ownership. Following this, the project launched hands-on skills acquisition training designed to equip women and young people with practical, income-generating abilities. Participants are currently being trained in:
Soap & Detergent Making
Shoe Making
Hairdressing
Tailoring & Fashion Design
Welding & Metal Fabrication
Carpentry & Woodwork

These trainings are tailored to help beneficiaries build sustainable livelihoods, reduce unemployment, and strengthen local economies. With dedicated facilitators and supportive partners, the Crowy Project is already igniting hope and creating pathways to financial independence.

Together, we are building skills.
Together, we are building futures.
