Royal visit: One of our Elders of Etsako Club 81, Prof Mike Ozekhome, SAN CON posses with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after a royal dinner, in Lagos, yesterday, 12th May, 2024.

They came to Nigeria to champion mental health for young people affected by conflicts and to promote the Invictus Games of affected military personnel.

Etsako Club 81 Scholarship Recipient Attains First-Class Honors at Law School

One of the beneficiaries of Etsako Club 81's educational scholarship has achieved a first-class distinction at the Law School. Barrister Munirat Okponobi, daughter of the late club member Yaqub Okponobi, was among those called to the bar on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Body of Benchers Complex, Abuja.

Members turned out to celebrate the success of Okponobi, honoring the legacy of her late father who was a past Treasurer and Financial Secretary of the Club. The Club's support extended beyond its Scholarship Program, with individual contributions furthering her educational journey.

Today, the Club takes pride in her academic achievements and extends best wishes for continued success. The occasion was attended by the Club's President, World-wide, Sir Greg Otsu, past Chairman of the Abuja Chapter, Hon. Usman Dauda and other esteemed members.

ETSAKO CLUB '81 RINGS IN 2024 WITH ASPIRATIONS FOR VISIONARY ACHIEVEMENTS

As the dawn of the promising year 2024 unfolds, members of the Etsako Club '81 received warm wishes and a rallying call from their President, Barrister Greg Otsu. In a heartfelt message, the President extended his congratulations and aspirations for a year filled with endless opportunities, and the unwavering courage to achieve the club's objectives meticulously. His words echoed the sentiments of hope and optimism for the club's future.

"Dear Great Members of our dear Club, Congratulations as we all witness a brand new year, marking another era in our lives, beginning today, the 1st of January, 2024. It is my prayer that the new year will bring to you all exciting opportunities, endless possibilities, and the courage to continue to chase your dreams." He expressed.

His message continued to extend wishes for a year adorned with love, laughter, and memorable moments for the members and their loved ones. He appreciated the confidence bestowed on him as one who can shepherd the affairs of the Club, expressing gratitude for the confidence entrusted in him, and welcoming everyone to the promising year of 2024, signing off with the familiar Etsako salutation, "N' Etsako Yalo."

Subsequently, the club's executives and President, accompanied by Dr. Phillip Idaewor, the Interim Chairman of the UK/European Branch, and Mr. Gregory Afemikhe, the National Treasurer, embarked on a significant visit to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Chief S. S. Afemikhe, in London.

The visit, described as a "courtesy call," resonated with gratitude as the team acknowledged being warmly welcomed during their interaction with their host.

The occasion was punctuated with expressions of gratitude to the Almighty, as highlighted in President Otsu's communication following the meeting.

These significant events mark the inception of the year 2024 for the Etsako Club '81, heralding not just a new year but a year brimming with aspirations and proactive engagements as they strive to realize the vision constituted by the club's founding members.

CLUB '81 WELCOMES NEW LEADERSHIP

The Abuja Chapter, Estsako Club '81 now has a new leadership. The outgoing executive led by Hon. Usman Dauda whose tenure drew to a close on 1st January, marking the transition to a new phase of leadership, appreciated members for standing by him to achieve huge success.

Effective from the 1st of January, the incoming executive members assumed their responsibilities as the governing body of the Etsako Club '81 Abuja Chapter. Emphasizing the importance of upholding the club's constitution, the newly elected officials are urged to fulfil their roles diligently and execute their duties in alignment with its rules and regulations.

The incoming executive is tasked with organizing regular meetings and ensuring the comprehensive fulfilment of all obligations assigned to the chapter, following the club's directives meticulously.

As part of a seamless transition, former executive members are urged to compile and prepare their handover notes, along with any club assets under their care, for a smooth transfer to the newly appointed executives, in other to facilitate effective management and continuity.

The formal inauguration of the new executives is scheduled to be held on the 28th of January 2024. The inaugural ceremony will be accompanied by the presentation of awards to members who have contributed significantly to the success of the preceding regime.

During his vote of thanks, the new Chairman, Comrade Eustace Imoyera James appreciated the outgoing Executive members for their dedicated service. Confessing how gratified he was, he expressed his admiration for the efforts and foundation laid by the pioneer and the immediate past Chairman.

Acknowledging their indispensable role in establishing the chapter, the incoming leadership pledged to draw from their wealth of experience and guidance to steer the chapter forward.

Assuring reliance on the team assembled by the former Chairman, he pledged to harness their collective efforts to elevate the Chapter and the Club to greater heights, emphasizing the continuity and progress envisioned for Etsako Club '81, Abuja Chapter under the new leadership.

“EVERY ETSAKO CLUB '81 MEMBER TO BECOME A MILLIONAIRE” - NEW PRESIDENT

In a resolute affirmation, Barrister Greg Otsu, the President of Etsako Club '81 world-wide, a seasoned stock broker, pledged to collaborate with club members across various chapters to ensure that every member attains millionaire status during his tenure. This commitment was announced during the Abuja Chapter's 2023 End-of-Year Party held at the Avrum Restaurant and Bar, Wuse 2, Abuja on December 17th, 2023.

Acknowledging a beautiful thank-you gift for his steadfast support since the chapter's inception, Barrister Otsu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate the end-of-year party alongside the Abuja Chapter. He vowed to actively contribute to bolstering chapter membership, praying for the member's well-being and the chance to steer the club towards its envisioned goals. He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to everyone for their unwavering support to the club.

A significant highlight of the event was the presence and address by legal luminary Prof. Mike Ozekhomhe (SAN), the first Senior Advocate of Nigeria from the Weppa Wanna Kingdom. He encouraged members to uphold integrity while pursuing their careers, emphasizing the need for synergy in shaping a better Nigeria, Edo State, and particularly, Etsako.

The celebration escalated when Prof. Ozekhome took the stage, by attracting donations from esteemed guests for the chapter, stating that money is essential to encourage and pilot efficiently the affairs of the Abuja Chapter of Etsako Club'81.

Expressing his gratitude to all and sundry, the outgoing Chairman, Hon. Usman Dauda appreciated all who took their time to attend the party. Also, the incoming Chairman, Comrade Eustice James assured that his tenure would build upon the accomplishments of the outgoing executives.

Other notable figures who addressed the gathering included Roland Otaru (SAN), the first Senior Advocate of Nigeria from Edo North. A man whom SAN Ozekhome described as one who pioneered the partway for Edo North indigenes to attain the enviable status of being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Chris Itsede, Past President (PP) of Etsako Club 81; Barrister (Mrs.) Josephine Ozekhome, Chief Ibrahim Omokpaire, Chairman of the yet-to-be-inaugurated United Kingdom Chapter; Etsako Club 81 National Legal Adviser and Chairman of Branch establishment, Barrister Sadiq Ilegiuno; Barrister Bisi Idaomi, Edo North political leader; Hon. Queen Abibat, President; Edo Women World Wide Association (EWWA), outgoing and incoming executive members of the Abuja Branch, members, prospective members and guests.

The event's atmosphere was vibrant, with its esthetics inflamed by indigenous music, engaging conversations, discussions on values and diverse interests, jokes, ample food, beverages, and pleasurable dance steps.
The year's end-of-year celebration stands as a memorable occasion, with accolades and support pouring in from members across the national body and other chapters.

Abuja: Etsako Club 81 Elects New Executives

The FCT-Abuja Chapter of Etsako Club 81 has elected new executives who will lead the Club for the next year. The election took place today, on November 26, 2023, in Abuja.

During the election, Dr. Chris Itsede, the national representative and former President, congratulated the incoming executives. He commended the outgoing executives for their active, dynamic, and effective leadership style during their tenure. Dr. Itsede highlighted the honourable conduct and sagacity of the Usman Dauda-led leadership, suggesting that their approach should serve as a template for the incoming executives to build upon.

Honourable Usman Dauda, the outgoing Chairman, expressed his joy and appreciation to his team for their contributions to the club's success. He also conveyed gratitude to the national body through its representative.

Chairman-elect, Comrade Eustace Imoyera, conveyed his team's happiness at being entrusted with the club's leadership. He emphasized that members should take pride in the organization's continuous growth and competitiveness, even after 42 years of existence.

The hybrid meeting addressed the achievements of 2022/2023 and presented the financial report.

EXTENSION OF INVITATION TO ETSAKO PEOPLE RESIDING IN THE FEDERAL CAPITAL CITY

For public awareness, Etsako is one of the constituencies within Afenmai Land-politically known as Edo North of Edo State, Nigeria.

It encompasses three local government areas: Etsako West, Etsako Central, and Etsako East, with its headquarters located in Auchi.

This constituency has been a cradle for remarkable and diligent individuals, both locally and internationally recognized.

As the National Body prepares for its 42nd Congress /AGM scheduled for December 10, 2023, where new national leadership will be inaugurated, the FCT Chapter is convening today, on November 26, 2023, to elect fresh executive members who will navigate the chapter's leadership for the upcoming year.

Monthly General Meeting: Etsako Club 18 Abuja Chapter Continues to Support Development

The Chapter's concern regarding the central Club's development of the cultural center in Auchi gained prominence during its meetings. In his opening remarks at the monthly general meeting held yesterday, 24th September, 2023, the Chapter's Chairman, Hon. Usman Dauda, updated new and aspiring members on the progress made so far on the Afenmai Cultural Center, contributing to the development of not only Etsako Community but Afenmai Land.

Before the meeting commenced, a minute of silence was observed in honour of its late member, Hajia Mariam Abubakar, and Lady Monica Alimikhena, wife of a member, Distinguished Senator Francis Alimikhena.

After reading and adopting the minutes of the previous meeting, several updates were provided by the heads of various committees.

Etsako Club 81 is a community-based developmental-driven club that has been providing scholarships to deserving students, supplying schools with creative materials, and empowering women with various skills over the years.

The September meeting was hosted by the Financial Secretary, Alhaji Yusufu Aliu, and members enjoyed refreshments.
