🎉We are excited to share that we have officially kicked off the Project, a groundbreaking collaboration between European and African partners working together to strengthen person-centered prevention services in sub-Saharan Africa.

On May 20, TEST4TPT consortium members came together for our kick-off meeting to start organizing activities, plan next steps, and strengthen the collaboration streams across all partner organizations.

The project seeks to improve access to testing for TB infection (TBI), incorporating and AI powered digital solutions for test results reading; aiming to increase the initiation and completion of TB preventive treatment ( ).

GREAT NEWS!📢

Last week we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a new project focused on improving TB diagnosis in children in Khunti District, Jharkhand, India, in partnership with Blockchain for Impact (BFI).

🌐Starting in mid‑June 2026, the project will introduce a simple, child‑friendly for children with presumptive , helping overcome barriers linked to invasive and hard‑to‑access diagnostic methods.

Beyond increasing TB case detection, through this collaboration we will:
👉Assess the feasibility and acceptability of stool‑based testing
👉Examine of TB and pathways to care
👉Evaluate health system readiness; and
👉Explore links between malnutrition and undiagnosed TB among children attending Anganwadi centres

We will be working closely with the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and state health systems.💫We look forward to the impact this collaboration can make for children and families affected by TB in Jharkhand.

In Tajikistan, healthcare workers are gaining new tools to better protect families from tuberculosis🔥

As part of the SCAF-TB project “Saving Children and Their Families from Tuberculosis”, 32 healthcare workers were trained to use the skin test, supported by digital tools such as AudibleHealth AI and the TB Connect Smart Patch. These innovations support earlier, more accurate detection of infection and improve access to preventive treatment for people exposed to TB.

PhotoLetters to TB is a creative, community‑centred approach developed by KNCV colleagues Inez de Kruijf-Carter and Juan Román Mora B. to help people affected by tell their story in their own way.

Using simple photography and short reflective writing, PhotoLetters creates a safe space for people with TB to:
💫reflect on and process their experience with TB,
💫make their voices heard,
💫reduce stigma around TB, and
💫build understanding within communities, practitioners and decision-makers.

can be used in peer‑support groups, community workshops, or advocacy settings, and is designed to be adapted to different cultural and programmatic contexts.

Diagnosing in children can be hard, but it doesn’t have to be painful or invasive.❌

The SOS Stool Box, developed by KNCV Tuberculosefonds, supports the use of the Simple One‑Step (SOS) stool method to diagnose using a non‑invasive stool sample, instead of difficult procedures like gastric aspiration.

This innovation helps:
💩diagnose TB in and people who cannot produce sputum,
💩use existing molecular testing platforms without extra equipment,
💩bring TB diagnosis closer to primary health care and the communities, and
💩start treatment earlier.

Recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) as an alternative sample for TB diagnosis in children, the method is simple, scalable, and people‑centred and our SOS Stool Box helps countries put this into practice.
