We are posed to improve the lives of women, young girls, children and invariably that of the community in Nigeria by embarking on health a

Our Screening activities focus mainly on two common cancers in women, BREAST and CERVICAL CANCERS employing simple methods that provide results on the field such as Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and breast examination for cervical and breast cancer screening respectively. PAP smears and breast mammograms screening services are offered when financial resources are available. Our health awareness and promotion activities have recently been expanded to include the youths of our environment with great outcomes particularly an enhanced understanding of reproductive health issues. We also encourage and actively participate in activities that promote professionalism among our members and medical doctors generally. The journey of a thousand miles................
Thank God for this milestone!
I'm super excited to share our latest publication, freshly published on BMJ Global Health!
About two years ago, we started our community-based project Ending Child Marriage in Nigeria through Community-led media Series (ENCASE) project, a collaboration between researchers at the CoMUI Ibadan and McGill University, funded through the Stars in Global Health award from Grand Challenges Canada. We got amazing results and encouraging feedback from the communities where we worked. We decided to document and share our interesting story of coproduction, effective communication, adequate community knowledge, cultural sensitivity and managing expectations....... all important requirements for an effective community entry and engagement process. This important and rate-limiting aspect of every successful project is usually overlooked and uncelebrated!
This article provides an account of our experiences, the challenges faced and the lessons learnt as we worked with selected communities to learn about child marriage among Hausas in southwestern Nigeria.
As a Community Physician (and Global Health researcher), getting this part of our project published in a highly reputable journal ( and open-access too ) brings so much satisfaction and joy! I thank my co-lead on this project Alissa Koski for believing in me ❤️ , my other co-authors Halimat Omowumi Olaniyan, OLAYINKA EGBOKHARE, Bidemi Nelson and Olayinka Omigbodun(our project advisor and mentor). This is to us ! 🍷

The journey of a thousand miles.......... begins with one first step!
I invite you all to read .............

Do you know that Holding in a sneeze can cause serious health problems.

Your sneezes build up air pressure in the lungs as you prepare to sneeze.

That air has to go somewhere, and it’s usually out the ears.

Although quite rare, some severe risks of holding in a sneeze include damage to the blood vessels, ruptured ear drums, hearing loss, or vertigo.

Even though these complications are super unlikely, it’s always a good idea to let your body do its thing: sneeze, yawn, hiccup, and use the bathroom when you gotta go.

Your brain is getting the signal for a reason, so don’t be shy. Sneeze away!

Instead of holding in a sneeze, simply cover your mouth and nose, preferably with your elbow.

Hope you found this helpful.

When diet is wrong medicine is of no use, when diet is correct medicine is of no need.

The most important thing which can affect our health both positively and negatively is food, because eating is something which we do many times a day lifelong.

Without good nutrition, our body is more prone to disease, infection, fatigue, and poor performance.

Looking after your health today gives you a better hope for tomorrow.

Have a great week!
