International Women’s Day in Industry (observed 21 April 2026): Empowering the Future of Industrialization

I was honored to participate in the landmark UNIDO program, "International Day of Women in Industry Commemoration." This event served as a powerful convergence of FG parastatals, NGOs, and CSOs, all spearheaded by visionary female leaders committed to reshaping the industrial landscape.

The Vision: Gender Inclusiveness as a Strategic Mandate
A significant highlight of the program was the strategic role played by the Reach HER Initiative for Gender Equality and Empowerment. By deciphering complex industrial frameworks, the initiative outlined a clear roadmap for policy enactment focused on:

Systemic Inclusion: Moving beyond representation to integrate women-led SMEs directly into global value chains.

Institutional Reform: Promoting gender-sensitive regulations that eliminate barriers to credit and industrial resources.

Future-Proofing Equity: Ensuring digital industrialization and STEM-led sectors are built on a foundation of workplace equity and mentorship.

When women lead at the intersection of policy and industry, we don’t just bridge the gender gap—we accelerate national productivity.

Women and young girls have great potential in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) sector, a field that supports modern living, healthcare, and food preservation.

Encouraging their participation helps promote gender equality, economic empowerment, and technical skill development.
By studying and working in this sector, women can build sustainable careers, contribute to energy efficiency and climate solutions, and help bridge the skills gap in technical industries.

Reach HER Initiative will be supporting in collaboration with UNIDO and National Ozone Office, Federal Ministry of Environment by creating awareness
for girls and women to explore refrigeration and air conditioning not just as career opportunities but about changing narratives, empowering communities, and building a more inclusive and innovative future. 💡 ✴️

I am honored to share that I have been invited as a Guest Speaker at the upcoming Women’s Empowerment Forum organized by Labelle Consult in collaboration with G100 Million Mission SDG Wing Nigeria, taking place on the 20th - 21st June 2025.

This event is dedicated to inspiring and equipping women and young girls with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead in their communities, careers, and causes. I look forward to contributing to the conversation by sharing insights from my journey as a Climate Change Expert & Gender Advocate, and highlighting the importance of inclusive solutions for a sustainable future.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of this impactful dialogue and to stand alongside other women changemakers who are shaping a more equitable world.

Just a week ago, I was invited as a Stakeholder to an inception workshop session by Sustainable Research and Action for Environmental Development (SRADev) Nigeria which focused on addressing Flourinated Green House Gases ( F-GHGs) in alignment with the objectives of the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment.
The workshop marked a significant step in setting the tone for collaborative national efforts toward phasing down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and other high-global-warming-potential (GWP) substances that threaten climate stability.

The session brought together Key Stakeholders, including Government Agencies, Environmental experts, Representatives from the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) industry, and Civil Society Organizations. Discussions centered on the urgent need to reduce the use of F-GHGs, the current national inventory and policy landscape, and the strategic roadmap for implementation under the Kigali Amendment.

During the workshop, participants were engaged in knowledge-sharing presentations, technical breakout sessions, and interactive discussions that highlighted best practices, challenges, and opportunities within the RAC sector and beyond. The collaborative nature of the workshop fostered a strong sense of commitment and synergy among stakeholders, paving the way for effective policy ex*****on and technological transition.

Personally, the session was insightful and reinforced the critical role of multi-stakeholder engagement in climate action. It also emphasized the importance of integrating awareness, capacity-building, and innovative solutions—particularly in sectors like cooling, where women and youth can be empowered to participate meaningfully.

Overall, the workshop was successful in setting the groundwork for a coordinated national response to F-GHG emissions and served as a timely call to action for all stakeholders to uphold the spirit and targets of the Kigali Amendment.
