In courtship the journey of spiritual growth should start with you. You cannot give what you don’t’ have.

As a single person, before you become engaged in courtship, the question you should ask yourself is: am I really faithful in dressing and keeping the garden God has placed into my care?

Your honest answer to this will determine how your season of courtship will look like.

Bottom line _ Praying to get a godly partner isn't just a petition to be answered by God, but a lifestyle required of us that will attract same, then we can begin this journey of spiritual growth mutually.

Profess the following with faith;

• I will remain faithful to dressing and keeping the garden God has placed in my care.
• I will build myself to grow spiritually so I do not become a burden to my partner.
• I will walk with God in this prime season of my youth.

Love Is Beautiful, But God's Will Is Better.

One of the easiest things to do is to fall in love. One of the wisest things to do is to make sure you're falling in love with God's will.

These days, many people enter courtship because the person is attractive, financially stable, emotionally available, or simply "checks all the boxes." While those things may matter, they should never replace seeking God's direction.

Can I ask you something?
Have you ever spent more time talking to the person than talking to God about the person?
Sometimes we become so emotionally invested that we begin praying, "Lord, let this relationship work," instead of sincerely asking, "Lord, is this relationship Your will?"

There is a difference.

Prayer in courtship is not meant to convince God to approve your choice. It is meant to reveal His choice.
When you genuinely seek God's will, He can save you from years of unnecessary pain, heartbreak, and regret.
God's "no" may hurt for a moment, but it often protects you from a lifetime of sorrow.

The goal of courtship is not just marriage.
The goal is a marriage built on God's purpose.

In the of book of Proverbs 3: 5-6.. The bible said: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.".

Reflection: Are you asking God to lead your relationship, or are you simply asking Him to bless a decision you've already made?

One of the most important decisions we will ever make is choosing a life partner. In a world where relationships are often driven by emotions, attraction, and social pressure, God calls us to seek His direction first. Courtship is not just about finding someone you like; it is about discovering God's purpose for your future. Prayer is the channel through which we align our hearts with God's will and receive His guidance.

Many young people rush into relationships because everyone around them seems to be dating. However, God's timing and choice are always better than our own. Before saying "yes" to anyone, spend time praying and asking God for wisdom, discernment, and peace. When we sincerely seek Him, He reveals what is right and protects us from relationships that could hinder our spiritual growth. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

As youths who desire to honor Christ, let prayer become the foundation of every relationship decision. Do not allow emotions or peer pressure to replace God's voice. A relationship that begins with God is more likely to glorify Him and fulfill His purpose. As you seek Him daily, trust that He is faithful to lead you to the right person at the right time.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to seek Your will above my own desires. Give me wisdom, patience, and discernment as I prepare for the relationship You have ordained for me. Let every decision I make bring glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Honest conversations are crucial in courtship. Your partner should not be taken unawares after commitment. Early disclosure of important information is vital. This includes discussions about finances, health status, background etc. Unrealistic expectations of the other partner can also be checked by engaging in honest conversations.

Don't blindfold your partner into commitment. It will lead to resentment in marriage.

In courtship, partners should know if their purpose aligns. Does your partner fit into your vision calling or career? This determines progression into marriage.

The essence of planning during courtship;

Planning ahead of time is crucial in courtship. It involves talking about the future. Personal ambitions, number of children, etc. should be discussed. You can also seek counsel together, for direction and guidance.

Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counselors there is victory. Proverbs 11:!4 NASB

The Essence of Prayer in courtship;

Prayer smoothens the way on time for things to be achieved effortlessly. The success of a marriage can be attained through a foundation of prayer laid both during and after courtship. That is to say, things that would defy the marriage can be dealt with in courtship.

️Partners can engage in prayer even when they are apart, through phone, at a suitable time. This can also help partners to build closer intimacy with God.
