July 19, 2026

The National Executive Council of OHANIVOWOMEN ASSOCIATION (O.W.A.),

Having carefully followed the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the death of Miss Mary Habila, expresses its heartfelt condolences to her parents, family, friends, and all those affected by this painful loss. We pray that Almighty God grants the family the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

The Association notes with concern the various reports, public reactions, and differing opinions that have emerged following this unfortunate incident. We believe that moments of grief require compassion, restraint,

In the interest of justice, fairness, and due process, we commend the Honourable Minister of Works, our illustrious son and father, Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, for reiterating his position that a comprehensive autopsy should be conducted to establish the true cause of Miss Mary Habila's death.

We further note that, following the confirmation of her death, the Honourable Minister promptly contacted the Nigerian Police in accordance with the law, thereby enabling the appropriate authorities to commence the necessary investigation.

The Association also acknowledges reports that the parents of the deceased have expressed their desire for the body of their daughter to be released to them.

REJOINDER:

Nigeria Is Governed By Law, Not Media Trails,Don't Politicize the Matter, Tinubu Reporters Replies To Atiku On Habila’s Death

By Tinubu Reporters

Our attention has been drawn to a statement issued by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar regarding the death of Miss Mary Habila on June 27, 2026, in Uburu, Ebonyi State.

The Honourable Minister, Sen. Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, the Presidency, and the Ministry of Works extend our deepest condolences to the Habila family.

The loss of a 26-year-old Nigerian is tragic.

The matter was immediately reported to the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command, and the Minister has cooperated fully since from day one.

The Minister of Works, Engr David Nweze Umahi, supports a transparent and independent autopsy, and discussions are ongoing with the family and police on the modalities.

Nigeria is governed by law, not media trials. Sen. Umahi has not been indicted or charged with any offence.
Calls for him to “step aside” set a dangerous precedent.

The Inspector-General of Police has statutory powers to direct the investigation as he deems fit, and the Ministry will support any such decision.

The Renewed Hope Administration remains committed to justice, transparency, and the rule of law.

We will not sacrifice due process on the altar of politics.

The Honourable Minister remains focused on delivering critical infrastructure for Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Administration. That duty will not be distracted by speculation.

We pray that the truth emerges and that Miss Mary Habila’s soul rests in peace.

PRESIDENT TINUBU IS INTENTIONALLY REBUILDING THE SOUTH EAST

I can’t contain my joy and that of my people regarding the great news from DIKESIMBA Anambra; DIKESIMBA NDIGBO— President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR!

Certainly President Tinubu has a date with history and even more so with the Southeast. He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrate the reconstruction of the southeast— thereby finally healing the wounds of the civil war. There are several unprecedented foundational infrastructural rebirth going on in the southeast at the moment. We will celebrate the full list later….

But the news from him today is history in itself. I met the President on Wednesday July 1. The next day, Hon Minister for Works and Infrastructure (our own ever productive and beloved Sen. Dave Umahi) contacted me to send him the details of the roads we had repeatedly discussed. On Friday, July 3rd, I sent him the following two roads:

1) Otuocha- Anam - Abaji (Kogi)— about 108km to be dualized; and

2) Oba- Nnewi- Uga - Ihube (Okigwe junction) — connecting Anambra/ Imo to Enugu- PH road which also passes through Abia—- about 150km to be dualized.

Today, 15th July I received a message from the Min of Works that the President has graciously approved both roads for “design and procurement”! What can I say? These two roads constitute critical game changers for the Southeast, South-South and North Central. The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics— and the Southeast won’t be the same again! For me personally, this is why politics makes sense to me— working collaboratively and building alliances to achieve concrete results that improve the lives of the people.
Thank you ASIWAJU! History will be kind to you!!
