Calabar Itu Road Road construction ongoing a complete one carriageway by the sermatech company on their respective section allocated to them

The project is a 23 kilometer according to the federal controller it’s over 5% completed over 17 kilometer of Continuous Reinforce Concrete Pavement (CRCP) has been done and almost 18 kilometer of asphalt work
Challenges is just the intensive rain in cross river which is delaying the work but still workers are still outside doing the work in preparation for dry weather so construction begins for the second lane

Federal Government approves about N438 billion in road projects and several trailer park concessions nationwide.

Road construction and rehabilitation projects:
1. Reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road (Ekiti State) – N159.83 billion (awarded to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd.)

2. Variation order for rehabilitation of the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road (Ogun State) – N54.12 billion

3. Reconstruction of the 15 km Port Harcourt–Eleme Junction–Onne Port Junction section of the East-West Road (Rivers State) – N74.51 billion (awarded to RCC Nigeria Ltd., nine-month completion)

4. Phase II rehabilitation of the Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road (Ekiti State, part of Ado–Ijan–Iluomobi–Imesi–Ondo border route) – N54.52 billion

5. Construction of the Ilara–Iselu Road, Phases II–V (Ogun State) – N94.24 billion (awarded to JRB Construction Company Ltd., 24-month completion)

Highway and trailer park concessions (public-private partnership):
6. Development of the 7.9 km Dikko–Maje section of the Suleja–Minna Road (Niger State) – N56.75 billion (40-year concession, Graciatech Engineering Nigeria Ltd.)

“WE HAVE SAILED PAST EPE”: UMAHI CLARIFIES DONALD DUKE’S OPINION AS TINUBU’S LAGOS-CALABAR COASTAL SUPERHIGHWAY ADVANCES ACROSS STATES

The Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, has clarified opinion arising from the opinion expressed by former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway would may not go beyond Epe, explaining that construction has already progressed beyond the area and is advancing steadily across several states.

Speaking during an inspection of Section 4B of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Ondo State on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Minister explained that the Renewed Hope flagship infrastructure project of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making steady progress, creating thousands of jobs, improving security and opening new opportunities for commerce, agriculture and education.

Recalling Donald Duke’s opinion on the project, Umahi pointed out that the facts on the ground have now answered every doubt. “So the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is already on sail. And then so we have sail past Lagos that my brother Donald Duke talked about.”

The Minister explained that construction is progressing simultaneously across several state, “We are also on sail at Ogun, 28KM, on sail at Ondo, 52KM, all by two. We are already on sail in Calabar, 27km, and the Akwa Ibom, the first section of Akwa Ibom is about 47km. Those jobs are over 60 percent done. And we are on sail in the longest section of this Lagos-Calabar, that is at Akwa Ibom, 180km by two.”

Umahi emphasised that the coastal highway is not just about connecting communities but about transforming lives through employment, improved security and economic prosperity. “Roads are source of employment. We’ve counted over one thousand people within this section employed by HITECH. It is creating a lot of direct and indirect jobs. It is also solving the problem of insecurity. UPDATED

The ongoing construction of the Hadejia Road through Danzaki–Zaura–Daura, the Northern Bypass in Kano State, is progressing steadily under the Renewed Hope Administration through the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON.

In addition, the construction of the biggest flyover in the state is also rapidly ongoing at the Northern Bypass.

This was today, Wednesday, 5th August, 2026. I joined the Engineer to inspect the projects, and we observed that work is progressing smoothly.

We can only thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, CON, for infrastructural development across the country.
