On 26 March 2026, a delegation from the Inclusive Skills Development Initiative (ISDI) paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Women Affairs at the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).

The team was warmly received by Mrs. Patience Dickson Ogolo, Head of the Women and Gender Unit, who represented the Executive Secretary. Discussions during the visit focused on fostering collaboration and aligning efforts to advance inclusive development, particularly for women and girls with disabilities.
The engagement was highly productive and marked an important step toward strengthening institutional partnership between ISDI and the NCPWD. The Commission’s commitment to providing institutional support—through the Women and Gender Unit—will significantly improve access to schools and facilitate the effective implementation of the UNESCO-supported project.

ISDI looks forward to sustained collaboration with the Commission and remains committed to providing regular updates while deepening this partnership throughout the project lifecycle.

🌟 BREAKING: Teachers in Abuja Just Got Empowered to Change Lives.

Over 30 dedicated special needs and inclusive education teachers from five FCT schools came together at Junior Secondary School Pasali, Kuje, for a transformative 2-Day Training of Trainers Workshop (25–26 March 2026) proudly supported by UNESCO

The mission? Equipping educators with the knowledge and confidence to deliver National Family Life and HIV Education (NFLHE) Curriculum in a truly inclusive way — with a strong focus on sensitive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) topics for young people with disabilities.
Through dynamic role-plays, simulations, case studies, and hands-on facilitation techniques, participants gained practical tools to:
✨ Create safe, inclusive, and accessible classrooms
✨ Break stigma and foster open conversations
✨ Empower students with disabilities to understand their rights, health, and wellbeing

👥 Distinguished guests in attendance included:
National Programme Coordinator, UNESCO
Deputy Director, Special Needs Division, FCT Secondary Education Board
Representative of the Director, Vulnerable Groups Department, National Human Rights Commission
Expertly facilitated by Dr. Kolawole Jayeoba (Programme Manager-AWWDI), the workshop delivered an engaging, impactful, and action-oriented experience for all participants.

This is more than a training, it’s a movement.
A bold step toward an inclusive education system where every child, regardless of ability, is seen, heard, and supported.

At Inclusive Skills Development Initiative (ISDI), we remain committed to ensuring that every young person with a disability has access to accurate information, dignity, and opportunity.

Thank you very much, UNESCO for championing inclusion and making this impactful initiative possible.

Happy International Women’s Day 2026

Today, we celebrate the strength, leadership, resilience, and brilliance of women and girls—especially women with disabilities—across Nigeria and around the world. This year, our message is simple but powerful: “Give to Gain.”

When societies give women equal access to education, resources, leadership, opportunity, and protection, the entire nation gains—stronger economies, healthier families, peaceful communities, and sustainable development.
But true progress must be fully inclusive. We must ensure that women and girls with disabilities are not left behind, but are actively included, respected, and empowered. Their voices, leadership, talents, and rights matter equally in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Gender justice is not a side issue, it is central to national progress. Nigeria’s transformation depends on removing structural barriers and unlocking the leadership, innovation, and productivity of all women, including those with disabilities.

The Inclusive Skills Development Initiative (ISDI) therefore calls on government, the private sector, traditional and faith leaders, and civil society to act boldly:
• Invest in women’s empowerment
• Strengthen protections against gender-based violence
• Promote inclusive leadership and equal opportunities
• Ensure accessibility and participation for women with disabilities
When every Nigerian woman and girls regardless of ability, background, or circumstance—is given the opportunity to thrive, our nation gains transformation, stability, and shared prosperity.

Give to Gain. Empower Women with Inclusion in Mind. Transform Nigeria.

Nigerian women in all their diversity are rising to demand the swift passage of the Special Seats Bill. This movement proudly includes women with disabilities, whose voices, leadership, and lived experiences are essential to building a truly representative democracy.
This is more than a call for representation — it is a call for justice, equity, accessibility, and a democracy that genuinely reflects all its people. Inclusive governance is not a privilege; it is a constitutional and democratic imperative.
When women — including women with disabilities — have equal access to decision-making spaces, policies become stronger, communities become fairer, and nations become more prosperous. The time for meaningful inclusion is now.
