ALHAMDULILLAH 🙏 Yesterday, 10th August 2026, at about 3:00 p.m., I received a call from a registrar of a court who knows about OGF Charity Foundation.
He informed me about a case before the court in which a young man had been sentenced to one month in prison for impregnating a lady and failing to take proper responsibility for the mother of his child and the baby.
Alhamdulillah, through the intervention and support of OGF Charity Foundation, the man has now been released from the correctional centre.
This situation has raised an important question for the general public: Do you think imprisonment is the best solution in a case like this?
Some people believe that a father who neglects his child and the child’s mother must be held accountable, and the law should protect women and children from abandonment. Others believe that imprisoning such a person may not solve the underlying problem, because while he is in prison, he may be unable to work, provide support, or take responsibility for his family.
At OGF Charity Foundation, we are not encouraging irresponsibility. We believe that every parent has a moral and legal duty to care for their child. However, we also believe that justice should aim to correct, restore, and protect lives where possible.
For those who are surprised by this intervention, OGF Charity Foundation has successfully assisted many people in correctional centres before now, and by the grace of Allah we will continue to do so. It is part of our aims and objectives to stand for justice, fairness, equality, and support for the vulnerable, while encouraging people to become responsible members of society.
We respect the decisions of the courts, but we also believe that society should continue discussing whether certain cases are better addressed through accountability, mediation, financial responsibility, and rehabilitation rather than imprisonment alone.
What is your honest opinion? Do you think a one-month prison sentence was the right punishment in this situation, or should there have been a different approach?
May Allah guide us all to act with justice, compassion, and responsibility. Ameen.
