"Allow EFCC do it Work, No One is Above the Law" - Majidadi warns UPPP
Ambassador Aminu Abubakar Majidadi, the National President of Almushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA) has called on the United Progressive Political Parties, (UPPP) to stop distracting the current investigation against Yahaya Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on corruption.
Amb. Majidadi made the call in a statement made available to Capitalwatch Media in response to the press release by the United Progressive Political Parties, (UPPP) Kogi State Chapter advising that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu should caution the EFCC against its ongoing investigation of the immediate past governor of Kogi State.
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, on the issue of the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the EFCC, the spokeswoman of the group, Hon. Ibrahim Itodo, said the EFCC Chairman should not hide behind Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s case as accused for his incompetence in doing the right thing; he should resign voluntarily for lacking capacity and competence to administer the EFCC.
His words, “We are amazed at the simultaneous responses to the former governor, Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello, by the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Justice, the Anthony General of the Federation, and all other security agencies by declaring the governor wanted.
The political group therefore said they no longer have confidence in the chairman to investigate and persecute Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello because he will not be treated fairly under the present chairman.
Reacting to the above claim and call, Amb. Majidadi said its unfortunate that some people and groups as UPPP could think that Nigerians are not aware of the massive corruption activities by certain politicians and how beneficiaries of such evil acts can shameless defend suspects and even convicted.
"All I am saying is that no one should distract this investigation against Bello and many other investigations geared towards unveiling, arresting and prosecuting corrupt individuals in our country", Majidadi stated.
AITA national president added that nobody should be above the law or investigation when evidence of corruption activities are fingered on.
" Yahaya Bello shouldn't be an exception, allow EFCC to do it statutory responsibility. No group or individual should distract or sabotage efforts of the anti crime agency, because we won't allow that to happen."
