During an interview on AIT News, our Executive Director, Anthony Ubani, raised critical concerns about governance priorities and electoral integrity in Nigeria.

He highlighted the stark contrast between the speed at which public funds are released for non-essential expenditures and the delays when it comes to matters that directly impact citizens’ welfare and democratic outcomes.

maintains a clear position: real-time electronic transmission of election results must be mandatory and non-negotiable. While it may not solve every challenge in the electoral system, it will significantly strengthen safeguards, improve transparency, and help ensure that the will of the people is accurately reflected. 🗳️

RAISING A NEW GENERATION OF ETHICAL LEADERS FOR AFRICA

Dr Oby Ezekwesili and Blair Glencorse

A new generation of leaders committed to integrity, competence, and public service is emerging across Africa. At a recent graduation ceremony in Abuja, 262 students from the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG) received their certificates, marking another step in the effort to strengthen leadership and governance on the continent.

Founded by Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, SPPG was created to raise ethical and capable leaders with the ability to solve public problems with integrity. Addressing the graduates, she emphasized that Africa’s future depends on leaders defined by both character and competence.

Keynote speaker Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka also challenged the graduates to reject corruption and uphold justice and inclusion, reminding them that leadership is not an entitlement but an obligation.

Since its launch in 2021, the programme has graduated more than 1,000 students and continues to expand across several African countries, helping equip leaders who can shape a more just, inclusive, and prosperous Africa.

LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITY AND THE DUTY TO PROTECT CITIZENS

In two recent commentaries, our Executive Director, Anthony Ubani, reflects on urgent issues shaping Nigeria’s present and future: the responsibility of leadership and the fundamental duty of the state to protect its citizens.

He raises critical questions about governance performance as the country approaches another electoral cycle, urging citizens to carefully evaluate leadership and the direction of national policy. At the same time, he addresses the tragic killings in Jos, warning that when a nation fails to safeguard lives and communities, it erodes public trust and weakens the very foundation of democracy.

Both commentaries emphasize a central message: leadership must be accountable, and the protection of citizens must remain the first responsibility of any government.

CONDEMNS PALM SUNDAY KILLINGS IN JOS, CALLS OUT NIGERIA’S NORMALIZATION OF MASS VIOLENCE

strongly condemns the brutal killing of innocent citizens in Jos, Plateau State, on Palm Sunday. What should have been a day of peace and reflection instead became a day of tragedy as armed assailants reportedly attacked communities, killing men, women, and children and tearing families apart. This incident reflects a deeply troubling and recurring pattern of violence affecting communities across Nigeria.

Equally concerning is the inadequate and delayed response from leadership. In moments of national tragedy, citizens expect swift, visible, and decisive action. Silence, delays, and distant responses send the wrong signal to grieving families and embolden perpetrators who continue to act with impunity.

Nigeria cannot continue to normalize mass violence. is calling for an independent investigation, proactive security deployment, comprehensive security sector reform, protection of vulnerable communities, and clear accountability for those responsible.

Budgets should be more than announcements and ceremonies. They should translate into real investments that improve the lives of citizens. When large sums are approved but critical sectors like healthcare remain underfunded or neglected, it raises an important question about national priorities.

At , we believe transparency, accountability, and responsible allocation of resources are essential for good governance. When national priorities are properly aligned, public spending can deliver meaningful impact and strengthen citizens’ trust in government. 🏥📊

During an interview on News Central TV, our Executive Director - Anthony Ubani, spoke on the importance of the Diaspora Voting Bill and why voting must be recognized as a constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen.

He emphasized that voting in a democracy is not tied to location but to citizenship. Nigerians do not lose their rights simply because they live outside the country.
