Innovation Without Limits: ICT for ALL 🚀
The SHIELD Girls2Women Initiative and Odyssey Educational Foundation recently empowered 25 young innovators in Abuja through a high-impact, hands-on technical workshop. The program centered on the Satellite AI Project, where students worked in teams to master the intersection of satellite data and Artificial Intelligence. Using Teachable Machine and Scratch; a tool developed at MIT in the USA. Participants trained models to recognize environmental data such as: vegetation, weather patterns, and flooding. This practical experience enabled students to transition from being technology consumers to understanding the complex "Input-Processing-Output" cycle used in global missions, such as Artemis II. 🛰️💻
The results were transformative, sparking a deep curiosity for careers in AI, coding, and aerospace. Feedback showed that students were highly motivated by learning how AI systems are built and were inspired by the roles of astronauts in organizations like NASA. Special appreciation goes to the American Spaces Nigeria for fostering such a conducive environment for the next generation of problem-solvers. 🌟🌍
