MY FIRST SET OF MENTEES.
Aside from distributing books to students as a birthday project, my heart yearned for more. I wanted something more personal.
However, the idea wasn't clear yet, so I continued with the initial plan of book distribution. After much debate in my head, I decided to pick a school and speak to the best students from each class.
I didn't have a prepared speech because it wasn't a lecture but a heartfelt conversation. I asked the Holy Spirit to give me utterance and words for them.
Meeting these children gave me a renewed sense of purpose. The message was clear, "We are not reading just to pass exams but to understand what we are being taught so that we can add value to our society."
I spoke for 30 minutes, giving them step by step lessons on how to succeed as students and encouraged them to make an impact in the lives of other children by offering knowledge to struggling students.
I gave them books to document their progress and write relevant notes. After the conversation, I prayed fervently for them. Asking God to uphold and bless them as they have found a new meaning to their lives.
Project wasn't just about giving out books but a movement of impact to raise a generation with an awareness of societal impact.
This movement began with the Burden for Mission Int'l school, Eneka, Rivers state, Nigeria.
A whole new journey has begun, and I'm excited for the next school I'll visit.
This project is one that I prayed the longest for, I didn't know why. Probably because I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I one thing was certain, "I being in the way, the Lord will lead me."
Thank you, Jesus!!!!
Thanks to you, too, for your continuous support and prayers. God bless you abundantly.
