Visit of the Rector, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi to Regional Director (Africa) of the International Institute of Peace Leaders (IIPL), Abuja.
As part of the effort of the Dr. Hashim Sabo Bello led Management to place Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic on a special position in the global map of higher education and scientific innovation, the Rector visited the Abuja Office of IIPL on July 6 and 7, 2024 to engage with the organisation regarding possibility of exploring areas of mutual collaboration. The meeting was facilitated by a friend of the Polytechnic, Abdulkadir Hassan as part of support being rendered to enable the Institution reach out to both local and global players for win-win synergies and other strategic relationships.
The Rector was received by the Director African Region of the IIPL, H.E. Ambassador, Dr. Kingsley Obasahan, who expressed the Institute’s passion for partnership and collaboration with educational institutions across the country. Thereafter he led his team to make presentation to the Rector on IIPL and its mandate as well as its roles in the promotion of peace and Goal 16 of SDG. The Rector thereafter briefed the IIPL Director about the Polytechnic and its strategic roles and contributions toward not only the development of Bauchi State but also the country as whole.
The areas both parties agreed to collaborate include:
International exchange programme for students and staff;
Establishment of peace Club;
Fabrication of agro and other processing equipment;
Alternative and renewable energy as well as environmental projects and programmes;
Joint research; solicitation for funds & technical support;
Capacity building including in-office and field training; conferences, seminars and related activities.
At the end of the two day-visit a draft Memorandum Agreement was packaged and formally submitted to the Rector. The following were agreed at the end of the meeting:
Drafting and Vetting of the MOA;
Ex*****on of the Agreement at the date to be mutually agreed;
Draw an action plan for the implementation of the Agreement;
That the MOA shall be vetted by the Rector’s draft working team and thereafter executed by the two parties.
Each programme and project to be undertaken amongst the parties would separate working agreements.
At the end of the visit the Regional Director appreciated the Rector for taking time despite his busy schedule to visit IIPL office and further expressed optimism that the proposed collaboration would add great value to both entities and of course Bauchi State and the country as a whole.
