Happy International Women’s Day from CEDHAR! 🌸

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women and girls across the world.
At CEDHAR – Centre for Development, Health and Rights, we honour the women who continue to lead change in their families, communities, and societies despite the challenges they face. International Women’s Day reminds us that gender equality is not just a goal — it is a necessity for sustainable development, justice, and human rights.

✨ Today we celebrate:

• Women leaders and changemakers.

• The courage of women advocating for their rights.

• The power of women supporting women.

• The voices of girls who represent the future.

CEDHAR remains committed to promoting the rights, health, protection, and empowerment of women and girls, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to live with dignity, safety, and equal opportunities.

💜 Let us continue to break barriers, challenge inequality, and create a world where every woman and girl can thrive.

📣 When women rise, communities rise.

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, but it also requires proper medical care to ensure the health and safety of both mother and baby. Regular prenatal check-ups allow healthcare professionals to monitor the baby’s growth, check the mother’s health, and detect any potential complications early.

According to the World Health Organization, in 2023, an estimated 260 000 women died from maternal causes globally.

Around 6 in 10 of those deaths (160 000) occurred in countries experiencing conflict or institutional and social fragility.

At CEDHAR, we believe governments, development partners, and humanitarian actors must urgently scale up equitable investment in resilient maternal health systems—particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings—by strengthening primary healthcare, ensuring skilled birth attendance, improving emergency obstetric care, and protecting women’s access to lifesaving services even during crises.
