Highlights from Day 1 of the 9th Annual Conference of the International Law Association- Nigerian branch.

1. Press Conference: The role of the ILA in combating financial crimes was emphasised, along with the timeliness of the conference in expanding participants’ knowledge and strengthening their capacity to address economic crimes in Nigeria.

2. Advanced Courses: A training programme for members of the ILA Nigerian Branch running alongside the main conference across the three days. The course provides a broader framework for tackling financial crimes.

3. Keynote Address: Delivered by Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye. SAN, OFR, NPOM on Illicit Financial Flows and National Development: Drivers, Challenges and Pathways for Multi-Stakeholder Solutions.

4. Plenary Panel Session: Moderated by Oludayo Olorunfemi, Vice President of the ILA Nigerian Branch. Panelists included Abubakar Olanrewaju Damilola S. OlawuyiIlliyasu Gashinbaki, Adesegun Akin-Olugbade, Joke Aliu, Felix Obiamalu, and George Amos.

5. Closing Remarks given by Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, FCIArb , President of the International Law Association.

Day 1 set the tone for important conversations on law, finance, and sustainable development.

Day 1 is live at the 9th annual conference of the International Law Association (ILA)-Nigerian branch.

The conference brings together diplomats, ambassadors, policymakers, business owners, and experts, with a goal to share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore solutions for advancing sustainable development in Nigeria and other regions.
