₦800 billion. That's the amount 31 APC governors allegedly pooled from monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) deductions into accounts tied to President Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, and it's 80 times the presidential campaign spending limit under the new Electoral Act 2026.

Our latest report breaks down what the law actually allows, what the constitution says about diverting public funds, and what ₦800 billion could otherwise mean for Nigeria's health and education budgets. Enough to rebuild the country's entire backlog of primary healthcare centres, or fund six years of universal basic education.

Although the government has dismissed the figure as false, INEC, EFCC, and NEITI have yet to open an investigation into the matter. SERAP has since sued INEC to compel one.

The Presidency says the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council/Presidential Economic Advisory Council does not exist. Yet, Nigeria's 2026 Budget allocates N1.3 billion to the same entity under the Presidency.

This contradiction raises important accountability questions. As the annual budget is a legal document authorising public expenditure, allocations should correspond to legally established government institutions. Where a budget contains funding for an entity the Presidency has publicly described as non-existent, prompt clarification is essential to ensure transparency, prevent confusion, and maintain public confidence in the budgeting process.

Yesterday's rainfall left a major road in Wuye, Abuja flooded.

Blocked drainage and stormwater channels, along with poor waste management and infrastructure maintenance, continue to worsen water buildup across the FCT.

Urgent intervention is needed! We urge the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Nyesom Wike, to take immediate action to address the worsening situation.
