UPF Kansas - Ambassador for Peace Assembly

🎗️UPF Kansas hosted a meaningful Ambassador for Peace Assembly at the Kauffman Center, the premier meeting and conference venue in the Kansas City area. 

🌱 The featured speaker was Rev. Carl Frazier, Ambassador for Peace and Director of the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice, who presented “Addressing Conflict through Dialogue and Creative Problem-Solving” emphasizing the importance of peace and character education in schools as a way to equip young people with the skills needed to resolve conflict constructively. 

🌎 Dirk Anthonis, Director of UPF Kansas, then presented “A New Perspective on Peace-Building,” highlighting the transformative vision of One Family Under God and its potential to inspire greater cooperation and understanding among people of diverse backgrounds

🌐A highlight of the gathering was the formal appointment of two new Ambassadors for Peace: Mrs. Stacey Carrow, President of the Board of the United Nations Association of Greater Kansas City, and Rev. Dawt Uk, Pastor of the Kansas Lautu Baptist Church.

🕊️ This gathering celebrated the growing network of leaders committed to dialogue, family values, and building peaceful communities through cooperation and shared responsibility.

We were pleased to see this initiative featured on RTG’s news bulletin, carrying the event from the Universal Peace Federation Guinea that brought together Ambassadors for Peace and community actors in Conakry around a simple idea: peace is not only something we speak about—it is something we choose and practise together.

What does it really mean to work for peace at the international level?

For us, it means creating spaces where dialogue can happen, partnerships can grow, and people from different backgrounds can contribute to solutions that serve the common good.

Since 2018, the Universal Peace Federation has held General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), reflecting its continued engagement with the UN system and civil society worldwide.

But beyond titles and recognition, the purpose remains simple: bringing people together around the ideals of peace, dignity, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

Peace requires restraint in how power is used.

Within the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP), this reflection calls attention to a fundamental principle of leadership: —whether national or international—must remain accountable to the public good.

Building a more peaceful world means strengthening a culture rooted in justice, , responsibility, and the dignity of every human being.

On this day in 2022, leaders from 157 nations gathered in Seoul around a shared question: how can dialogue help build a lasting culture of peace?

From August 11–15, the Summit and Leadership Conference brought together political, religious, academic and civil society leaders under the theme “Toward Peace on the Korean Peninsula: Toward a World Culture of Peace.”

Africa was strongly represented in those conversations, contributing perspectives on peacebuilding, youth education, interreligious cooperation and the responsibilities of leadership.

Four years later, the principle remains relevant: peace across borders begins with the willingness to meet, listen and work beyond them.

In parts of Africa, military takeovers have sometimes been met not only with concern but also with public support.

Why?

The deeper issue may be less about an attraction to military rule and more about declining trust in civilian institutions, persistent insecurity, weak public services, and frustration with political systems that citizens feel no longer represent them.

Our recent article examines what the continent’s recent coup wave may be telling us about leadership, democracy, accountability, and the expectations of a younger generation.

The question may not be simply whether Africans want democracy — but whether they feel they are experiencing the real thing.
