STEVEN IBN AKIGA FOUNDATION

Steven Ibn Akiga Foundation (SIAF) is a nonprofit organization with the commitment to improving the quality of life of the indigenous people of Benue State and Nigerians in general. Founded in 2017, the organization focuses on the strengthening of educational systems, community capacity enhancement, social protection and overall community development.

At its core, SIAF work towards building forward-looking and harmonious communities where young people can find expression, achieve their full potential and contribute to all facets of life. It also majors in facilitating the protection of women, children and the aged from exposure to economic and social risk, vulnerability, exclusion and disability. In all, the organization is geared towards building communities that are well structured for seamless global integration.

SIAF was founded in honor of the legacies of Steven Ibn Akiga, and anchored on the principles that, all humans are sacred; humanity is evolving; maturity comes through working with others; humans need encouragement to make choices, and humans need to stay connected to accept others as we and they are. It is based on these principles that he served humanity with excellence, good virtues of selfless leadership and an unwavering faith in God.

To re-structure communities in Benue State for seamless global integration by building forward-looking and harmonious communities that stimulate optimal development of the youths as well as protect women, children and the aged from exposure to economic and social risk, vulnerability, exclusion and disability.

OUR OBJECTIVES

1. Educational Development:

To facilitate the enhancement of teaching and learning practices, stimulate increased school enrollment for all gender, support the use of appropriate tools and technology in schools, facilitate the development of educational infrastructure and help institutions function as robust, evidenced-based, student-centered learning communities.

2. Community Capacity Enhancement:

To facilitate the development of the capacity of local communities to develop, implement and sustain their own solutions to problems in a way that help them shape and exercise control over their physical, social, economic and cultural environments.

3. Social Protection:

To facilitate the protection of people from exposure to economic and social risk, unemployment, vulnerability, exclusion, sickness and disability.

4. Community Development:

To stimulate economic empowerment and infrastructure development in communities.
