Nigeria’s young population cuts across different states, cultures, backgrounds and experiences, but many of us share the same hopes and aspirations: quality education, decent work, security, opportunity, a voice in governance and a future worth believing in.
With millions of young Nigerians already contributing as entrepreneurs, students, farmers, creatives, innovators, professionals and community leaders, the conversation should no longer be about young people as the future. Young people are already shaping Nigeria’s present realities.
Yet, millions of young Nigerians still face barriers to education, employment, digital access, funding, security and meaningful participation in decision-making.
This International Youth Day, we must move beyond celebrating young people to listening to them, investing in their ideas, creating opportunities, and including them in decisions that affect their lives.
At Promad Nigeria, we believe young people should not only be beneficiaries of development. They should be partners in building it.
Happy International Youth Day. The Nigeria we want is achievable.
