Hi everyone, trust we had a good valentine’s week.
On our previous post we did an introduction on Self-love. Today we will focus on Self-love as it pertains to success.
Before we go further let’s define success. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary success is the satisfactory completion of something, satisfactory being the focus. There are a lot of motivations to success e.g. financial freedom, family, faith, societal status, even revenge etc., a lot of people are successful because they want to show someone who hurt or mocked or left them in time past that they can be successful without them, they get so motivated and often time they actually achieve success but most times they tend not to get satisfied because they didn’t get the reaction they anticipated and this leads them to go over and beyond just to prove a point, this is an unhealthy type of motivation. You can be successful in a thing without being satisfied and fulfilled because there is something missing…
Self-love is the missing link.
It is the motivation that stands out in success. Selflove is a bedrock on which passion, dedication, commitment, consistency and discipline rest on, it is like nuclear energy that can power literary anything for a very long period of time but can be dangerous when it isn’t understood and used properly. Just like everything in life, self-love has its counterfeit (evil twin) which is selfishness or self-absorption, don’t be self-absorbed that you do anything, hurt anyone just to achieve success. People with narcissistic personality disorder are an e.g. of people who will go to any length to succeed without caring about who they hurt in the process. Self-love in its true nature propels one to love others and seek their success too. Self-love is that protective bubble that shields us from that negativity from the outside, it is from there self-confident, self-preservation, contentment, gratitude, peace, generosity, kindness emanate from. But to fully understand all these you must seek to know yourself enough to love yourself
Ps: In our next post we will be talking about seeking to know one’s self enough to love one’s self
