What if every sporting opportunity could also become an opportunity to equip young girls with the knowledge to protect their health and wellbeing?
Saturday 29-08-2026 DHDC, in partnership with SportsBridge Foundation and the Daniel Amokachi Eduplus Foundation, engaged young female athletes at the SportsBridge Boot Camp.
We provided the young girls with information and engaged them in conversations on mental health, menstrual hygiene, HIV, TB, STIs, PCOS, sexual and reproductive health.
At DHDC, we believe health education works best when it meets young people where they are, and this was a safe space for them to ask questions, challenge stigma and learn when and where to seek help. 
We remain committed to collaborations and open to building partnerships for innovative, youth-friendly approaches to advance prevention, health awareness and resilience among young people.

DR-TB Media Fellowship 2026: Call for Applications

Media Fellowship for Reporting on Drug-resistant Tuberculosis (2026)

DHDC in collaboration with the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP) is launching the Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) Media Fellowship to support journalists in developing informed, evidence-based stories that shine a light on DR-TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, stigma, access to care, and the experiences of people affected by the disease. Selected fellows will receive training and support to strengthen their capacity to produce high-quality DR-TB stories.

We hereby invite applications from journalists working in print, digital, TV, and radio media across Nigeria for the program.

People who have survived Tuberculosis (TB) are not just beneficiaries. They are strategic partners in driving early diagnosis, improving treatment adherence, and bridging gaps between communities and care in Nigeria’s Drug Resistant TB response.

DHDC in collaboration with People Nigeria TB Partnership Nigeria with support from convened the Championing DR-TB webinar

The session brought together TB survivors,TB Champions and other key partners and stakeholders to demystify DR-TB, and discuss innovative strategies to strengthen the role of TB survivors and champions in DR-TB prevention, treatment, and control in Nigeria.

Key highlights include discussions on the role of survivors within the proposed TB Anti-Discrimination bill led by , and a showcase of practical examples and experiences on how the OneImpact Nigeria Community Led Monitoring platform continues to serve as a medium for reporting, and resolving barriers to quality DR TB prevention, treatment, care and support services led by DHDC and TB people.

DHDC joined TB stakeholders, government MDAs, and community representatives at the Public Hearing on the TB Anti-Discrimination Bill convened by the House Committee on Infectious Diseases led by Hon Amobi Godwin Ogah.

We presented a memorandum calling for the formal recognition of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) as a complementary accountability mechanism and advocated for:
• Accessible complaints and redress systems for rights violations.
• Clearly designated institutions to investigate and resolve complaints.
• Regular implementation reporting to the House Committee on Infectious Diseases and the Nigeria Parliamentary TB Caucus.
• Annual reports to the National Assembly on compliance, enforcement, and impact.

Our memorandum also emphasized meaningful TB survivor engagement, improved access to quality care, nutritional support, post TB care, rehabilitation and social protection, public awareness of TB and patient rights, stronger health systems, and greater support for health workers and treatment supporters.

A rights-based approach is essential to ending TB in Nigeria. Every person deserves dignity, protection, and equitable access to care.

Debriche Health Development Centre (DHDC) participated in the United Nations Multi-Stakeholder Hearing on HIV/AIDS ahead of the 2026 High-Level Meeting.
Our intervention highlighted the critical role of community-led monitoring and the importance of domestically financing the continuation of high-impact, community-driven initiatives supported through catalytic mechanisms such as the Stop TB Partnership Challenge Facility for Civil Society.
We stressed that communities should not merely be consulted, but recognised, resourced, and empowered as co-leaders in shaping, implementing, and monitoring HIV and TB responses moving forward.
Together with the global TB community, we call for:
• stronger integration of HIV and TB services;
• people-centred, stigma-free, and resilient health systems;
• accelerated innovation, research, and equitable access to new tools;
• rights-based and sustainable community leadership;
• increased investment in community systems and frontline workers; and
• sustainable financing for community-led responses, parliamentary engagement, and accountability mechanisms.
We cannot end AIDS by 2030 through siloed programming. We need stronger, more accountable, and community-driven integrated HIV/TB responses.
As negotiations towards the 2026 Political Declaration continue, community voices must remain central not symbolic within global decision-making.
