The Be The Change Initiative is a flagship and bold movement by committed to promoting open governance, active citizenship, and sustainable development across Africa. It empowers young leaders through civic education, digital advocacy, and grassroots mobilization to drive accountability and positive change in their communities.

This year, we’re raising the bar with the 2025 Cohort, as we set out to empower over 3,000 young changemakers across Africa, our largest cohort yet. These champions will gain training, mentorship, and resources to design and implement impactful social projects in governance, climate action, education, health, and more.

Together, we are building the largest social change network of youth leaders committed to transforming their communities from the ground up. Because real change doesn’t wait, it starts with bold citizens who step up to lead.

Be The Change Initiative Statement on Flooding Crisis

We are deeply heartbroken by the devastating flooding that recently struck the Mokwa community in Niger State, claiming over 200 lives, displacing thousands, and destroying homes, schools, roads, and vital infrastructure. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the urgent need for climate resilience, responsive governance, and proactive disaster preparedness.

At Be The Change Initiative, we stand in solidarity with the victims and their families. Our commitment is unwavering—we will support relief efforts, amplify community voices, and push for lasting solutions.

We urgently call on the Federal and Niger State Governments to:
• Invest in resilient infrastructure and drainage systems,
• Improve dam monitoring and emergency response mechanisms,
• Implement early warning systems and community-based disaster preparedness.

This disaster must be a wake-up call. Together, let’s demand accountability and action to ensure no community suffers like this again.
