The initiative is a project built upon the foundation of the intervention emphasized in over 40 of the Food systems dialogue held across the country and selected by the Federal Government due to its potential for food systems transformation at the household level

The activity was kicked off at the International School (ISI) Ibadan where over 60 students participated in engaging discussion sessions on the concept of food systems, its impact as well as the role of young people in food systems transformation, hands-on planting activities with the support of who supplied the biofortified vitamin A maize and vegetable seeds, Garden maintenance sessions and a very insightful workshop themed ‘Nutrition in the context of overall development: nurturing a healthy mental state’ facilitated by the Head of programs at the centre for Early Development Learning and Care (CEDLAC), Ms Ifeoluwa Bankole

Feedback from the activities was very positive and the campaign hopes to scale up to other states across the Federation as the target is currently at 20,000 Nigerian Secondary School Students across 8 states in the country

This WOW Wednesday highlights the work of Act4Food Nigeria🌍, and specifically their Nutrifood4Youth initiative, which successfully conducted its first activity at the International School, University of Ibadan. The primary objective of this activity was to raise awareness among students about the significance of food systems and their connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). On May 11th, 2023, the event commenced, leaving a lasting impact on the attendees.🥕

The activity began with an engaging assembly talk, delving into the concept of food systems and highlighting their profound influence on our lives and the planet. Emphasizing the role of youth in transforming food systems for a sustainable future, the discussion captivated the students, who displayed remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity.
To further nurture their interest, the Nutrifood4Youth club was introduced, outlining its goals and activities. The students eagerly listened and expressed their desire to join the club, recognizing the valuable opportunities it offers for personal growth and career development.
As the project progresses, numerous exciting activities are planned, including garden maintenance, harvesting the produce, and the presentation of certificates to acknowledge the students' dedication and involvement.
