INTERNAL MEMO TO CURRENT NYAC MEMBERS.

Subject: The Rebirth of NYAC: A Strategic Mandate for New Leadership.

Dear Comrades,

For the past several months, the Nigeria Youth Alternative Council (NYAC) has maintained a deliberate period of dormancy. This break was not a sign of stagnation, but a necessary season of introspection. We recognized the need to pause, re-evaluate our mission and strategically restructure our internal frameworks to ensure we remain steadfastly aligned with our founding principles.

Today, that period of transition concludes as we announce the formal rebirth of the Council.

The socio-economic hurdles facing the Nigerian youths have not diminished - ranging from systemic unemployment, political marginalization and underrepresentation of youths in governance. Now more than ever, there is a critical demand for a credible, formidable and sophisticated youth voice to champion our collective interests.

NYAC was established to be that vanguard and it's time to re-awaken our influence.

Call for Leadership Nominations:

To facilitate this new era of impact, all National leadership positions are hereby officially declared open to interested members defined by competence, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the youth struggle.

If you possess the vision to innovate, the discipline to execute and the passion to transform NYAC into a platform for youth empowerment, development and advocacy, we invite you to step forward.

We are not just looking for title-holders; we are looking for builders.

Detailed information regarding specific roles, eligibility criteria and the formal nomination process will be circulated within the next 48 hours.

The challenges of our nation require us to be vocal, organized and proactive. The silence is over.
NYAC has returned and we will rebuild with renewed purpose and precision.

In Solidarity,
Icon Nixon Chukwuka Odimbu

Revolutionary Movement 2027

NIGERIA YOUTH ALTERNATIVE COUNCIL, NYAC is absolutely, certainly and ready to make Radical change in the polity. Is either you join or you remain fallow watching us grow beyond lips & bounds, taking back our country (destinies) from those spinless entities that has made life miserable for the Nigeria people. Enough is Indeed Enough.

The eminent story and torchbearer of African Worldwide the late Prof. Chinua Achebe posited with magisterial finality and quote him; The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. It is instructive to note that the popularity and verity of this statement have not dwindled 30yrs after it was articulated. Rather it's factual merit are daily heightened by the politicians which predominate our news media.

For how long are we going to continue to depend on other nations whose economy and systems are fallen apart for our economic salvation and not to create and own our solutions?

How long do we continue to look up to our captors for freedom and to other Nationals desperate for survival and self advantage to pull us out of our underdevelopment?

How come we are a people so blessed, yet so poor, so knowledgeable yet without foresight, so "brotherly" yet so divided and so threatened, yet without heart for sacrifice? We have so many gladiators yet no warriors!

The peculiarities of our so inspiring sociopolitical evolution fairly account for our practice of leadership. Arguably our national annals lack the glamour of genuinely attruistic and action oriented leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, & Nelson Mandela who were solely preoccupied human life with dignity and freedom from fact and want, sadly, it is life with stories of leaders who are presumably Political cousins of polpot politics, perhaps, this explains why some Nigerians see the late General Sani Abacha as metaphor of leadership regrettably even in a post dictatorial era. It also explains why corruption is now associated with leadership.

I am tired of this old generation politicians who seek nothing but corruption, sucking the country dry at the expense of her citizenry's.

We must Arise with force, committed and passionate to changing leadership in 2027. We need a youthocracy system of Government.

April 05, 2025 – NYAC Review Seventy - Three (73)

NYAC NATIONAL SECRETARIAT

In keeping with our commitment to extricate NYAC from other Youth Organisations in Nigeria, today, we will deviate from our traditional and sequential review to answer the most common question of many: ´´AFRICAN DYNAMICS" as an extension of the NYAC's commitment to "Progressive Internationalism".

DIAGNOSIS OF AFRICAN DYNAMICS

1. Africa has a special history that cannot be compared to any other continent. The history of violent colonization, the plundering of resources, the killing of people, the sending of millions of people into slavery in the Americas have defined this continent to this day.

2. It is reverence of this history that one of the founders of Negritude, an ideological outlook to the world from which we got Black Consciousness, Aimé Césaire wrote:

“And if all I know to do is speak, it is for you that I shall speak. My lips shall speak for miseries that have no mouth, my voice shall be the liberty of those who languish in the dungeon of despairs... And above all my body as well as my soul, beware of folding your arms in the sterile attitude of spectator, for life is not a spectacle, for a sea of pain is not a proscenium.”

3. For this reason, in 1963, the newly liberated African countries decided to form the Organization of African Unity, a continental body whose express objectives were to liberate Africa from all vestiges of colonialism and underdevelopment.

4. In a speech known as "we must unite now or perish," delivered at the founding conference of the Organization of African Unity in Addis Ababa in 1963, Ghana's first post-independence president, Kwame Nkrumah, said

“Only a united Africa functioning under a Union Government can forcefully mobilize the material and moral resources of our separate countries and apply them efficiently and energetically to bring a rapid change in the conditions of our people”

5. Nkrumah firmly believed that true African independence required Africans working together towards a common goal. He believed that only united African action would, as Aimé Césaire (1969) wrote, reject all notions that:

“Africans never invented anything, never explored anything, never tamed anything”, but that African indeed “gave up themselves for the essence of all things, free of the desire to tame but familiar with the play of the world”.

6. Many other leaders - such as Nnamdi Azikiwe, the guide to Nigeria's independence, Leopold Senghor, who, along with Aimé Césaire, was the apostle of negritude, Obafemi Awolowo, a nationalist with a socialist orientation, Julius Nyerere, our sage from Tanzania - espoused the vision of a united Africa.

7. They may have had different of opinion on how to achieve it, but they all agreed that for Africa to prosper, it had to "unite or perish," as Nkrumah put it. These leaders knew that the function of colonial compartmentalization was to be used only to set up a new neo-colonial arrangement, where tribalism and imposed religious difference were used to keep Africans apart.

8. Julius Nyerere, who preferred a more gradual approach to pan-African integration, disagreed with Nkrumah on the method and pace of African unification. But he never lost sight of the importance of a united Africa. In 1997, long after his presidency of Tanzania, Nyerere made this important observation:

“I appeal to the new generation of African leaders and to the people of Africa: work for unity with a firm conviction that without unity there is no future for Africa. That is, of course, if we still want to have a place under the sun. I reject the glorification of the nation-state, which we have inherited from colonialism, and the artificial nations that we are trying to forge from this heritage.

We are all Africans trying very hard to be Ghanaians or Tanzanians. Fortunately for Africa, we have not been completely successful... Unity will not make us rich, but it can make it difficult for Africa and African people to be despised and humiliated. And so, it will increase the effectiveness of the decisions we make and try to implement for our development. My generation led Africa to political freedom. The current generation of African leaders and peoples must pick up the flickering torch of African freedom, rekindle it with their enthusiasm and determination, and carry it forward.”

Nothing can stop this agenda, it might linger but surely come to fruition. The NYAC has risen to take part in this history making decisions, at a pont like this, we fought for the Emancipation of the African People. Africa must be liberated.
