July 11th marks World Population Day, a globally recognized occasion initiated by the United Nations in 1989 to draw attention to population-related concerns impacting humanity. This year’s theme, “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world,” resonates deeply—not only because it places youth at the center of the conversation, but also because it calls for urgent systems that listen to, protect, and uplift them.

In countries like Nigeria and across many developing nations, the challenges of navigating a complex demographic transition are interwoven with issues of inequality, gender-based violence, child abuse, and the silencing of vulnerable voices, especially in public schools. Children, particularly girls, often suffer in silence due to stigma, fear, or lack of access to trusted reporting systems.

In response to this silent crisis, the Child Dream Initiative (CDI) is proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Stellar Community Impact Development Initiative (S-CIDI,) through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at tackling gender-based violence in schools. This partnership will establish “Safe Box” stations across government owned schools secure, anonymous drop-boxes that allow students to write and submit reports of molestation, bullying, abuse, or any distress they are facing, whether at home or in school.

This initiative is a powerful step toward giving a voice to the voiceless especially children who cannot speak up due to fear, threats, or the absence of trusted adults. It aligns strongly with this year's World Population Day theme by recognizing that empowerment begins with safety, and that a hopeful future for young people starts with environments that protect their rights and well-being.

As we commemorate World Population Day, let us remember: a population can only thrive when its youngest members are safe, heard, and free from fear. Through initiatives like the Safe Box, we move closer to a world where every child can grow, dream, and shape the future on their own terms, in dignity and in peace.

Dear Parent,

Every child has a voice — some just need the right support to find it. At Child Dream Initiative, we believe confidence begins at home. That’s why we’re bringing our Public Speaking Program directly to your doorstep.

This is more than just speech training. It’s about helping your child believe in themselves, speak up without fear, and express their thoughts clearly and boldly — whether in the classroom, on stage, or in everyday life.

We offer private, home-based sessions for children aged 7–16, tailored to each child’s personality and pace. Through gentle coaching, real-time practice, and encouragement, we help them:

* Speak with courage, not fear
* Turn nervousness into confidence
* Communicate with clarity and purpose
* Discover the leader within

If your child is shy, struggles to speak up, or simply needs a push to grow, this program is for them. Let’s help your child rise — not just to speak, but to be heard.

Home classes are limited and filling fast.

Call or WhatsApp us today to book a spot: 08109683013.
Because your child deserves to be heard.

Last week, Child Dream Initiative (CDI) had a productive partnership meeting with the Federal Ministry of Environment to discuss the Environmental and Waste Management Club in Junior Secondary Schools within the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

This collaboration is a step forward in equipping young minds with knowledge and skills to manage waste, protect the environment, and advocate for sustainable practices in their communities. By integrating environmental education at an early stage, we are building a generation that understands the impact of waste and climate change and is empowered to take action.

Why This Partnership Matters:
✅ Encourages environmental responsibility among students.
✅ Reduces improper waste disposal through education and behavioral change.
✅ Supports a cleaner, healthier school environment.
✅ Fosters leadership and advocacy for sustainability.

This initiative directly contributes to:
♻ SDG 4 – Quality Education: Ensuring students receive environmental education to drive change.
♻ SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Promoting clean and sustainable urban environments.
♻ SDG 13 – Climate Action: Encouraging young people to take action in mitigating environmental challenges. However, to achieve greater impact, we need more stakeholders on board! We invite government agencies, private organizations, NGOs, and community leaders to join this movement. Together, we can expand this initiative, provide more resources, and create a sustainable future for our children.

📢 Join us in making a difference!

Today, 24th March 2025, the world unites to mark World Tuberculosis Day with the theme: "Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver."

At Child Dream Initiative (CDI), we echo this bold call for hope, urgency, and accountability — especially in the face of declining international funding. Now more than ever, we must strengthen local commitment, scale up domestic investment, and ensure timely delivery of life-saving interventions.

TB remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases, but with collective effort, education, and community action, it is preventable and curable. We urge governments, stakeholders, and communities to Commit to stronger health systems and public education.
Invest in locally driven prevention and treatment solutions and Deliver on promises so that no child or family is left behind.

At CDI, we are committed to empowering children and young people to be part of this change — because ending TB is not only possible, it is necessary. Only if we act together, now.

My name is Emmanuela John and I'm a CDI Eco-warrior. This is a call to action to each and every one of us.

The rains are coming and with them, danger lurks not from the skies, but from what we leave carelessly on the ground. Look around you, bottle caps, broken slippers, plastic wrappers, and rubber waste everywhere. You may think they are harmless, just little pieces of rubbish. But when the rains fall, these "little things" become deadly. They clog our drains, block the flow of water, and turn gentle showers into raging floods that destroy homes, schools, livelihoods and yes, even lives.

We have seen it before. Streets become rivers. Families lose everything. Some never recover. And each time, when we look for the cause, we find it right beneath our feet: the rubber waste we chose to ignore. But today, I challenge each of us: Will we continue to ignore, or will we take action? That slipper you throw carelessly could block a drain. That bottle cap you toss on the ground could cause water to overflow. That plastic wrapper could contribute to the flood that washes away someone’s home. The power to prevent tragedy lies in your hands and mine. Collect that waste. Dispose of it properly. Recycle where you can. Encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Let us not wait for tears and regrets. Let us not wait until the flood comes knocking at our doors. The time to act is now. The responsibility belongs to all of us. Together, we can keep our school, our streets, and our community safe. Together, we can stop the tragedy before it starts.

Let’s turn waste into safety. Let’s turn carelessness into responsibility. And let’s prepare for the rains by doing the right thing — starting today.

What Does Going Zero Waste Mean to You? 🌍
For some, going zero waste means eliminating plastic use, while for others, it’s about reusing, recycling, or composting. But at its core, zero waste is a mindset—a commitment to reducing waste in every aspect of life and making conscious choices that protect our planet.

At Child Dream Initiative (CDI), we see zero waste as:
🌱 Educating children on waste management and sustainability
🌱 Encouraging recycling and upcycling in schools and communities
🌱 Promoting homestead gardening using composted waste
🌱 Advocating for eco-friendly habits in homes and workplaces

Zero waste isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. Every small action—carrying a reusable bottle, refusing plastic bags, composting food scraps, or repurposing old items—adds up to a healthier planet for future generations.

So, what does going zero waste mean to you? Share your thoughts in the comments! 👇♻️

At Child Dream Initiative (CDI), we recognize the importance of clean energy in shaping a healthier and more sustainable world. The International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually, serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to transition towards renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources.

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, CDI established the Environmental and Waste Management Club for Junior Secondary School students. This initiative educates young learners on the impact of pollution, the importance of recycling, and the benefits of clean energy solutions such as solar and wind power. Through hands-on activities, awareness campaigns, and community clean-up projects, we empower students to become advocates for a cleaner and greener future.

By integrating clean energy education into our club’s activities, we inspire the next generation to embrace sustainable practices, reduce waste, and contribute to a healthier planet. On this special day, CDI reaffirms its mission to equip young minds with the knowledge and skills needed to drive environmental change, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future for all.
