DYAN Leadership Celebrates Milestone Achievement: Successful Re-enrollment of 10,000 Out-of-School Children in Abuja

The Democratic Youth Assembly of Nigeria (DYAN) proudly announces a landmark achievement in its ongoing advocacy for inclusive education and youth empowerment with the successful reintegration of 10,000 out-of-school children back into formal education across Nigeria.

This milestone was celebrated during a strategic engagement held at the headquarters of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education in Abuja, where DYAN leadership led by the National Coordinator Amb. Bashir Nasiru Garki met with top management of the Commission led by the Executive Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris to review progress, strengthen collaboration, and reaffirm shared commitments toward reducing the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, DYAN leadership emphasized that the achievement reflects a collective commitment to advancing quality education, social inclusion, and equal opportunity for all children, particularly those from vulnerable and underserved communities. The organization reaffirmed its dedication to addressing structural barriers that contribute to school dropout rates, including poverty, social bias, and limited access to learning facilities.

The National Commission commended DYAN for its proactive grassroots mobilization, advocacy efforts, and sustained partnership in complementing government initiatives aimed at tackling the out-of-school children crisis nationwide.

Both institutions agreed to deepen collaboration through expanded enrollment drives, community sensitization programs, and targeted interventions designed to ensure that every child has access to safe, inclusive, and quality education.

DYAN reiterated that this milestone is not an endpoint but a renewed call to action, as it continues to champion good health and wellbeing, quality education, and social justice for Nigerian youth.

Together, stakeholders expressed optimism that sustained partnerships will significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children and contribute to a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.
