The Nigerian Television Authority broadcast INTERSOS Nigeria’s close-out workshop in Gusau on 28 April 2026, highlighting the impact of integrated protection and multisectoral response across Anka, Gusau, and Maru in Zamfara State.

Under the projects “Emergency Multisectoral Life-Saving Response to Acute Food Insecurity Among IDPs and Host Communities” and “Provision of Integrated Emergency Protection Assistance to Newly Arrived IDPs and Vulnerable Groups in Anka, Gusau, and Maru LGAs in Zamfara State,” the coverage reflected results achieved across both interventions.

The broadcast highlighted outcomes delivered with Stichting Vluchteling, reaching over 20,000 people directly and 60,000+ indirectly, while reinforcing stronger coordination and sustained support for vulnerable communities.

In Borno State, we marked the official launch of the Rapid Life-Saving Health and Nutrition Response for vulnerable populations across Dikwa, Magumeri, Monguno, and Maiduguri.

More than a kickoff, it was a moment of alignment—bringing sectors and teams together around coordination, shared responsibility, and urgent action to reach those most at risk.
With a focused six-month window, 23 service delivery points, including mobile outreach teams, will extend critical care to underserved communities—providing a lifeline where access is limited.

This response is designed to combat malnutrition, improve food security, and strengthen access to essential health services—protecting lives and restoring dignity at a critical time.

We look forward to the impact we can achieve—together—reducing preventable deaths and building resilience through the lean season.

From Response to Results: Strengthening Lives and Protection in Zamfara

On 28 April 2026, Intersos Nigeria convened a close-out workshop in Gusau, uniting government authorities, partners, and community leaders to reflect on the impact and lessons from two complementary interventions across Anka, Gusau, and Maru.

With support from Vluchteling, the projects delivered coordinated, people-centered results:

Provision of Integrated Emergency Protection Assistance (May 2025 – April 2026)
• 13,500 unique individuals reached (18,180 total)
• 40,500 people supported indirectly
• Expanded access to protection services, safe spaces, and critical support for vulnerable groups

Emergency Multisectoral Life-Saving Response (Sept 2025 – May 2026)
• 6,670 unique individuals reached (11,763 total)
• 20,010 people supported indirectly
• Delivered integrated nutrition, food security, and child protection services

Combined impact:
Over 20,000 people reached directly, with strengthened systems supporting 60,000+ others—improving access to care, reinforcing protection structures, and restoring dignity for displaced families.

The Gusau workshop underscored key gains: stronger government coordination, improved service delivery in hard-to-reach areas, and growing community trust.

Stakeholders called for sustained investment and scaled, integrated approaches to build on these results and advance long-term resilience.

We thank Stichting Vluchteling, government partners, and communities for standing at the forefront of this impact.

This week, INTERSOS Nigeria joins the global community for World Immunization Week to highlight the life-saving power of vaccines.

In Nigeria, preventable diseases remain a threat, particularly for women and children in underserved areas. With donor support, we are expanding access to immunization across Borno State to ensure no one is left behind.

Every vaccine delivered and every community reached is a step toward a healthier, more resilient Nigeria.

INTERSOS Closes Lean Season Response, Strengthening Life-Saving Support for Children

In February, Intersos Nigeria held the close-out meeting for the 2025 Lean Season Response in Maiduguri, funded by the United Nations OCHA NigeriaUnited Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Nigeria–managed Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) and featured on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Government, partners, and community leaders from Maiduguri and Magumeri reviewed results and lessons.

From August 2025 to February 2026, 1,488 children received life-saving nutrition, health, WASH, and protection services, including stabilization care and urgent referrals for severe acute malnutrition.

Despite access constraints in Magumeri, strong coordination ensured continuity of care for the most vulnerable.

With nearly 1 million children still at risk across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe, sustained action remains vital.

We are grateful to the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund, Borno State Government, partners, and communities.

Every timely response saves a life.

At INTERSOS Nigeria, International Women’s Day goes beyond a moment—it reflects a sustained commitment to supporting and celebrating women.

As part of and Women’s Month, we hosted a Sip & Paint session—creating space to pause, reflect, connect, and express creativity. A simple moment, yet powerful in strengthening wellbeing, trust, and collaboration.

Because supporting women must go beyond words—it must be seen in the spaces we create and the value we place on inclusion and care.
