Today, 8 September, Darlingeliot Home of Mercy Foundation joins the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non‑Formal Education (NMEC), NOGALSS and the world to mark International Literacy Day 2026: “Literacy for Human Flourishing.”

Literacy goes beyond reading and writing — it opens doors to education, work, dignity and informed choices. We’re committed to inclusive literacy programs that help women, youth and vulnerable people learn, grow and reach their potential.

A Week of Learning, Growth, and Impact
Darlingeliot Home of Mercy Foundation and our esteem partners proudly concluded a successful one-week free skill acquisition program with a vibrant graduation ceremony. We were honored to receive the Executive Secretary of NMEC, who commended the participants’ exhibition and pledged support, noting that our work strongly aligns with their mandate. We also welcomed Her Royal Majesty, the Queen Mother of Karu, whose generous donation of materials will be used for staff uniforms.
The event was further graced by the representative of the Kagbada Chairman, the Chairman of the Patrons and Matrons of DHMF, and other distinguished guests.
Our graduating participants expressed heartfelt gratitude to the foundation and our CEO for the knowledge and skills they gained.
Thank you to everyone—partners, guests, facilitators, and participants—who made this week possible. Together, we are empowering lives, transforming communities, and building a brighter future.

Day 2–3 Training Highlights
Days 2 and 3 of the DHMF One-Week Free Skill Acquisition Programme featured practical training in:
- Graphic Design, AI Prompting and Basic Programming
- Pastry Production
- Bag Making
The students were excited, engaged and enthusiastic throughout the sessions. Through this initiative, we are equipping young people with practical skills to promote economic independence and sustainable livelihoods.
