Sometimes, the biggest lessons come from the smallest voices.
As we spoke with the children about the importance of standing up for one another instead of fighting each other, one little boy said in Hausa:
”Yes, fighting is not good. I wish this person’s father was here to hear this, he is always fighting”.
The other children agreed.
While we reminded them not to single anyone out, that innocent comment stayed with us. It was a powerful reminder that children are always watching. They learn more from what we do than from what we say.
As parents, guardians, teachers, and role models, our actions shape the values they carry into the future. If we want children who choose kindness over conflict, respect over violence, and unity over division, we must first model those behaviours ourselves.
