It is a new year and we are not relenting on our "Community Drive" for the family to improve the wellbeing of Mothers and Children; whether they live in the hinterlands or the semi-urban areas, they all deserve a right to good health.

We are also not relenting on the distribution of "Birthing kits" to pregnant women between 7 and 8.5 months gestation... this saves them a lot of cost in terms of delivery.

We were led by the Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board (Dr. Ruqayya Wamakko) to see the FCT Mandate Secretary for Health and Environment, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe.

We were in the company of Representatives from The Rotary Foundation and Rotary-RMCH Germany.

The Permanent Secretary of the Health and Environment Secretariat, Dr.. Babagana Adam was also present.

We continue to elevate operational standards with another success high-impact Family Planning Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (FP-LARC) training, ensuring preparedness for every critical assignment in FCT, Nasarawa, Ekiti and Gombe states.

This was really exciting to see, with my many of the participants excited about their new/enhanced competency.

Just for the record, Family planning:

1) Improves maternal and child health by preventing high-risk pregnancies and allowing safer birth spacing.

2) Empowers families economically by helping them plan resources, education, and long-term stability.

3) Supports community development through reduced health burdens and stronger, more resilient households.

The long-awaited All-Nigeria Rotary Convention has come and gone, but its light still shines brightly among us. It rekindled our passion for service, strengthened the bonds of our fellowship, and reminded us of the noble calling we share.

Rotary-RMCH was able to showcase the impactful work being done in FCT, Nasarawa, Ekiti and Gombe States, through the “Together for Healthy Families in Nigeria”, which has led to the reduction of maternal death by 20% and neonatal deaths by 28%.

Rotary-RMCH Nigeria has been making remarkable impact in Nigeria's Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health Space for up to 2 decades and this image speaks volume-

This was taken at the 1st training of Obstetricians on ultrasound at ABUTH, Zaria in 1998, that used one of the first two Ultrasound machines supplied by Rotary Childspacing and Family Health Project.

Its really amazing to see how the efforts have since blossomed to the global level.
