At our Amputee Awareness Day 2026 in collaboration with & Orthotics Ltd & , the MD/CEO of Sun-Tech Prosthetics and Orthotics Ltd delivered a powerful message on resilience, dignity, and possibility for amputees.

He challenged amputees to reject stigma, intimidation, and self-pity, emphasizing that life should never be defined by physical loss alone.

According to him, true strength comes from knowledge, mindset, determination, and the refusal to surrender to society’s limitations.

He also gave a free prosthetic limb to one of the attendees, which will boost her mobility and productivity.

This was triggered because he understood the intensive cost of prosthetic limbs.

The message throughout the event remained clear: There's Ability goes beyond the limb loss or limb difference

Our Amputee Awareness Day made it to national television.

ARISE News featured the event, amplifying important conversations around limb loss, mental health, inclusion, accessibility, and the realities amputees face daily.

From peer support conversations to prosthetic consultations and awareness activities, the event reflected one message clearly:

Ability goes beyond the limb.

We appreciate Sun-Tech Prosthetics & Orthotics, Amputee Coalition of Nigeria and everyone who showed up, shared their stories, supported the movement, and helped push disability inclusion into mainstream conversations.

Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI), was represented by our Communication Officer, Chukwunyere Kelsey Nwosu at a 2-day workshop on Digital Accessibility, Advocacy Strategies, and Digital Accessibility Audits organized by Centre for Inclusive Development(CID) in Abuja.

The workshop, supported by the Disability Rights Fund, brought together Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and advocates to strengthen capacity on building more inclusive digital systems for persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

The sessions provided practical insights on:
• Digital accessibility and inclusive communication
• Advocacy strategies for systemic change
• Conducting digital accessibility audits on websites and digital platforms
• Addressing barriers persons with disabilities face when navigating digital spaces

At HAPI, we recognize that digital inclusion is not optional — it is a rights issue. As more services, opportunities, and information move online, ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities must remain a priority.

At HAPI, we believe digital inclusion is a rights issue, and accessible digital platforms are essential for equal participation, information access, and social inclusion for persons with disabilities.

We appreciate CID and DRF for creating this important platform for learning, collaboration, and advancing accessibility in Nigeria’s digital space.

Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI) was represented by our Admin Officer, Idowu Adebayo Omeiza, at the event themed “Role and Impact of Agriculture on Women with Disabilities” organized by Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative in Abuja on 7th May 2026.

The event provided an important platform for discussions on the contributions, challenges, and opportunities for women with disabilities within the agricultural sector. Conversations emphasized the need for inclusive agricultural policies, accessible training opportunities, financial inclusion, and equal participation in agricultural development and decision-making processes.

It was insightful to engage with researchers, government representatives, development partners, advocates, and women with disabilities whose resilience and leadership continue to drive change despite existing barriers.

At HAPI, we remain committed to advancing disability inclusion, gender equality, and sustainable development by amplifying the voices and participation of persons with disabilities across all sectors, including agriculture.

Today, we wrapped up Day 2 of our training on climate leadership, mitigation, adaptation, and advocacy for young persons with disabilities — and the atmosphere in the room said everything.

It was engaging, insightful, interactive, and full of honest conversations, shared experiences, laughter, learning, teamwork and growing confidence among participants.

It was encouraging to see many young persons with disabilities, actively contributing, asking questions, and seeing themselves as part of climate action and advocacy.

Our facilitators did an excellent job simplifying complex topics and creating a space where everyone felt seen, heard, and involved.

We appreciate Disability Rights Fund (DRF) for supporting this initiative and investing in inclusive climate leadership.

Today, we kicked off Day 1 of our two days training on climate leadership, mitigation, adaptation, and advocacy for young persons with disabilities in Makurdi.

What stood out immediately was the energy in the room. These weren’t the usual faces—we intentionally brought in new young persons with disabilities, many of whom are just stepping into climate conversations for the first time.

And they showed up.

The sessions were practical, interactive, and honest. People asked real questions, shared personal experiences, and connected climate change to what they see happening in their own communities.

Our facilitators Dr. Tine Agernor and others didn’t just “teach”—they broke things down in a way that made sense, from understanding climate change itself to discussing policies and where persons with disabilities are often left out.

You could see the shift as the day went on—confidence building, curiosity growing, and voices getting stronger.

Day 1 opened up the space, built understanding, and reminded everyone in the room that they belong in climate action conversations.

We appreciate the Disability Rights Fund (DRF) for supporting this work and making this kind of engagement possible.

Day 2 continues.

Flashback to powerful voices and real stories

Young people with disabilities spoke up on how climate change and floods are affecting their lives — and the gaps that can’t be ignored.

This wasn’t just dialogue. It was evidence, advocacy, and action.

🙏 Special thanks to Global Youth Mobilization for making this impactful engagement possible.

From Awareness to Action — We Showed Up.

On the 30th April, Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI), in collaboration with Sun-Tech Prosthetics & Orthotics Ltd and Amputee Coalition of Nigeria, successfully hosted the Amputee Awareness Event that mark 2026 Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month in Abuja.

And it was more than just an event.

It was:
• Real conversations about mental health after amputation
• Honest lived experiences that challenged stigma
• Direct prosthetic consultations and repairs
• The official launch of an Amputee Peer Support Network
• A powerful reminder that ability goes beyond the limb

Participants didn’t just attend — they connected, learned, and found community.

Because the truth is simple: Limb loss changes lives, but it should never limit opportunities.

At HAPI, we are not just raising awareness. We are building systems of support, inclusion, and dignity.

This is what inclusion looks like — practical, human, and intentional.

✊🏽 Happy Workers’ Day! | May 1st

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of workers everywhere.

But here’s the truth we must confront:

Not all workspaces are inclusive.
Not all workers are treated equally.
Not all voices are heard.

For many persons with disabilities, the right to decent work is still a struggle — blocked by inaccessible environments, discrimination, and limited opportunities.

At Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI), we believe:

🔹 Work is a right, not a privilege
🔹 Inclusion is non-negotiable
🔹 Every worker deserves dignity, accessibility, and fair opportunity

As we mark Workers’ Day, we call on:

🏛️ Government
🏢 Employers
🤝 Institutions

to break barriers, enforce inclusive policies, and create workplaces where no one is left behind.

Because a truly productive society is one where everyone can contribute and thrive.

Inclusion is not charity. It is justice.
