EU EOM Nigeria 2023 held a roundtable discussion today with citizen observer organisations, as well as INEC Nigeria and the EU Delegation to Nigeria to exchange views on the 23 recommendations, including 6 priority recommendations offered in the Final Report.

The discussion was the closing activity of the return visit to presenting the mission's comprehensive findings on the Presidential and National Assembly, as well as the Governorship and State Houses of Assemblies elections.

Chief Observer Barry Andrews MEP presented EU EOM Nigeria 2023's final report yesterday, offering 23 recommendations for improving future elections.

“In the lead-up to the 2023 general elections Nigerian citizens demonstrated a clear commitment to the democratic process. That said, the election exposed enduring systemic weaknesses and therefore signal a need for further legal and operational reforms to enhance transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability.” - he stated.
