The Hunger Games: APC Primaries vs. 15.6% Inflation

Welcome back to I Must-Talk Aloud: The Dirty Game. Today is Saturday, May 16, 2026. If you look outside, you will see two very different Nigerias. In the luxury hotels of Abuja, the APC is holding its House of Representatives primaries. But in the markets of Mararaba and Nyanya, the people are facing a different kind of "primary"—the struggle to buy food.

The Political Angle: The Race for the Ticket
Today, politicians are spending millions to secure party tickets for 2027. We see the convoys, the "delegates" being settled in secret, and the heavy security at the voting centers. It’s a do-or-die affair. Why? Because in our country, a political seat is seen as a "meal ticket" for the next four years. While they fight for power today, ask yourself: when was the last time any of these aspirants visited your street to ask about your water or electricity?

The Economic Angle: The NBS "Shock"

Yesterday, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the latest inflation report. Headline inflation has jumped to 15.69%. They say food and energy are the biggest drivers. But we don't need the NBS to tell us that. We feel it every time we buy a bag of sachet water or a measure of garri.
The "dirt" is the gap between the government’s "Renewed Hope" speeches and the reality of the market. They tell us the economy is "rebooting" with $49 billion in reserves, but if the reserves are full and the people’s stomachs are empty, who is the reboot for?
The Alliance Angle: The "Obi-Kwankwaso" Rumor:

The political grapevine is buzzing. Reports are flying that Rabiu Kwankwaso has finally agreed to be the running mate to Peter Obi for 2027. This would be a massive "Super Alliance" between the Obidient and Kwankwassiyya movements.
But on this blog, we must ask the hard question: Is this alliance based on a shared vision for Nigeria, or is it just a desperate "mathematical formula" to remove the current occupants of A*o Rock? We’ve seen "mega-parties" before—they often crumble once they get into power because they were built on "hate for the loser" rather than "love for the people."

The Local Angle: Infrastructure or Illusion?

Right here in Nasarawa, Governor Sule said this week in Abuja that Nigeria has enough money to fix its infrastructure. If that is true, why do the roads connecting our local markets remain death traps? Why is the "Abuja Industrial Corridor" still more of a dream than a reality for the thousands of youth looking for jobs in Mararaba?"
I Must Talk Aloud: We are at a crossroads. The politicians are busy planning for 2027, but we are just trying to survive May 2026. They are voting for candidates; we are voting for survival.
What do think? Does the news of an Obi-Kwankwaso alliance give you hope, or is it just more "dirty games"? And how are you coping with this new 15.6% inflation?
Talk aloud in the comments. Let’s shake the table together.

The N49 Billion Reserve vs. The N1,400 Fuel: Who is Fooling Whom?

Welcome back to I Must Talk Aloud. Today is May 12, 2026, and the air in Abuja is thick with two very different stories. On one hand, the government is celebrating a "success story." On the other, the man on the street is gasping for air. Let’s look at the dirt behind today’s headlines.

The Official Angle: The "Rebooted" Economy

Just today, Governor Uzodimma and Minister Bagudu briefed diplomats, claiming that the President’s policies have finally "rebooted" our economy. They are shouting from the rooftops about our foreign reserves hitting $49.4 billion—the highest in recent memory. They say Diaspora remittances have tripled and the stock market is crossing N155 trillion.

On paper, Nigeria is a billionaire. But in reality? We are billionaires who cannot afford a plate of food. The "dirt" is that these ma

The Ibadan Alliance: A Real Rescue Mission or a Gang of Old Friends?

The political atmosphere in Nigeria just got a lot heavier. Over the weekend, the city of Ibadan became the headquarters of a new political earthquake. We saw the "Big Three"—Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso—sitting together with other opposition figures like Rotimi Amaechi and Rauf Aregbesola.

Their message was clear: One Candidate for 2027. They say they are coming together to save Nigeria from becoming a "one-party state" under the APC. But as always, on this blog, we look at the dirt beneath the clean white kaftans.

The "Power" Angle: Can Eagles and Hawks Fly Together?

It sounds beautiful on paper: a "Super Coalition" to challenge the ruling party. But we must ask—who will step down for whom? In 2023, the ego of these same men split the votes and gave the APC the keys to the Villa. Now, in 2026, they are promising to be "one family." Are we watching a real sacrifice for the nation, or is this just a temporary marriage of convenience where everyone is secretly hiding a dagger behind their back?

The Systemic Angle: The INEC Problem

The opposition is already crying foul. They are calling for the immediate removal of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, accusing him of being a "player" instead of a "referee." This is a serious angle. If the people have lost confidence in the umpire before the game even starts, then the 2027 elections are already in trouble. A democracy without trust is just a theater performance.

The Economic Angle: The Bank Recapitalization Win?

While the politicians were in Ibadan, the Central Bank (CBN) announced that its Recapitalization project has pulled in over N4.6 trillion. On paper, our banks are getting "stronger." But on the street, the question remains: When will this strength reach the common man’s pocket? We have stronger banks, but we still have weaker purchasing power. The "dirt" in our politics is that we celebrate big numbers in Abuja while the mother in the village can’t afford a crate of eggs.

The Security Angle: The Forgotten Frontlines

While the elites were debating "strategic realignments" in Ibadan, the Senate was discussing more Boko Haram attacks in Borno and killings in Benue. It’s the same old story: politics is loud, but the cries of the victims are silent. Why is it that we can mobilize hundreds of police and security detail for a political summit in Ibadan, but we can't secure a farming community in the Middle Belt?

I Must Talk Aloud: Is this new "Super Alliance" the answer to our prayers, or is it just the same old wine in a different bottle? Are these men coming together to save Nigeria, or are they just coming together because they are tired of being outside the corridors of power?

What do you think? Can Obi, Atiku, and Kwankwaso truly work together, or will their "Egos" destroy this alliance before 2027?

The floor is yours in the comments. Speak up, because silence is an agreement with the status quo.
