Happy International Day of the Girl Child! Today is one of the most important days to me because it’s the day we celebrate the future. I remain dedicated to supporting, encouraging and empowering as many young girls as I possibly can in my lifetime. This year, my message to all young girls is ‘it gets better with time’. I remember being a teenager that was worried about all the crazy things my body was doing during puberty and how it compared to women who were many years older than me and not always feeling the greatest about it. Now I’m much more comfortable and happy in my own skin but it took time - so give yourself that grace and remember it all gets better with time. Governing hearts since ‘90’s. Chi ###

Today is International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women and it marks the first day of in a bid to end violence against girls and women! Under the fight for gender equality, gender-based violence (GBV) is an extremely important topic to me! No women or girl should be subjected to violence of any form on account of their gender! This is unjust!

It seems every year, the statistics on GBV get more and more alarming! A new study by UNODC and UN Women shows that, on average, more than five women or girls were killed every hour by someone in their own family in 2021!

Clearly, this is an unresolved issue and we all need to to do our part to ensure that we put an end to this! Join us to during the as we do our part to end violence against girls and women around the world!

As eco-anxieties increase, people are asking this important question: 'How do I get involved in the fight against climate change?' If you asked this question, you are already on the right track - thank you for your commitment to our planet.
1) Your immediate environment - have you thought about the products you use at home i.e do you use significantly more plastics than other environmentally-friendly products? How are you managing your waste i.e do you recycle?
2) Your community - how are you advocating in your community? Do you teach others how they to can become active citizens and slow down/reverse the impact of climate change?
3) Information & Resources - How are you keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in the space? How are you applying/ sharing this information with your immediate environment and neighbouring community?

Hello all, I am super excited to announce that I am now the African Regional Director for Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network (). I am really looking forward to the work I am going to do in this role! As the founder of , I and the female beekeepers that we support have become directly impacted by the effects of climate change. I look forward to working with climate networks and advocates across the world to encourage our citizen's to become more active in the fight against climate change in our respective communities. As may have already guessed - the effects of climate change disproportionately affects women and young girls and so I would like to prioritise discussions focused on advocating for more gender inclusive climate policies and the inclusion of female leadership within this space.

Do you know about some of the effects that climate change is having on our earth?

The last decade was the hottest in the past 125,000 years? Sea levels are rising and our oceans are becoming warmer. The current climate situation is putting our planet's diversity of life at risk! Our crops, wildlife species, people's livelihoods and freshwater supplies are being threatened daily.

The subsequent global warming is (partially) reversible and if global net emissions stopped then the warming that we as humans have caused would gradually reverse.

What climate action are you participating in to help reverse some of the damage that we have done to our world?

As a scientist, I like when data is presented to support claims and arguments. I recently came across this statistic by Mckinsey & Company that records that for every 10% increase in gender diversity, earnings before interest and taxes rose by a glaring 3.5%.

This is important because it is evidence for how transformational decision-making, discussions and environments can become when women are represented at the leadership level. This data shows us that women can provide different skill-sets and perspectives to bring about a rounded approach to creating solutions. Their structural and cultural differences bring different understanding to problems that facilitate more in-depth resolutions.

What are some other points that showcase how important women in leadership positions are? I would love to hear from you!

We are still on our posts! Globally, only 24% of leadership positions are held by women. This is not great statistics and can be directly or indirectly correlated to the inequality in felt by women across the globe. The need for a balanced representation of women in leadership is about the diversity in perspective, skillset and thought processing towards handling high- level issues. This is because it brings about solutions that factor in usually marginalised groups (women & children) that make up more than half of the affected population.

We are on a mission to ensure that it does not take 108+ years to attain gender equality globally and that there is a balanced representation of women in leadership positions (whether it is in trend or not to do so). Join us on this journey - I promise there is a lot more exciting things ahead.

Hello there!

Women in Leadership is essentially the name of my game here at ! It is extremely important that we are increasing the number of women in leadership because diversity in representation matters! Recently I graduated from the and I was reminded of the moment I knew that this moment could be possible for me. Representation matters and it made my dream possible! Watch my YouTube video of day (link in the bio) or check out our blog at www.walkwithwomenandchildren to be a part of my graduation day and how it ties into the importance of representation!
