Aspilos Foundation is a youth led non-profit using technology & digital inclusion to drive economic growth and good governance

AF Vision (Our Why)
Our vision/destination is an Africa of young active citizens maximising opportunities to foster economic progress thereby giving rise to a poverty free continent. AF Core Values (Our How)
We learn non-stop: We embody kaizen, we are continuously bec

oming better versions of ourselves. We always look for better, faster and out-of-the-box ways to get things done. We do not believe there is anything as a status quo. We stick to our purpose and our people in the good and bad times. Loyalty means a lot to us
We demonstrate good leadership all the time: In a continent that is sorely lacking leadership, we are a breath of fresh air. We are happy people who enjoy having fun: The work we do can get pretty intense so we try to have some fun while doing it. We work hard and play hard. We take responsibility for ourselves and our society: We take ownership of our own behaviours. Making the world better is not somebody’s job, it is our job. We always do the right thing: Our actions are consistent no matter where we are, who is watching and how we are feeling. We believe in the equal value of every human being no matter their gender, race, location or any other characteristic. AF Mission (Our What)
Our mission is to use technology to

- provide innovative and sustainable pathways to economic empowerment for young people
- increase citizen participation in governance so they can demand accountability and good governance from public office holders

Today, we celebrate every girl daring to explore the world of technology.

Through the AboCoders Project, we have supported 5,000+ women and girls across 4 states in Nigeria, many of whom started with little or no prior exposure to tech.

Today, we are proud to see more girls stepping confidently into careers in ICT, breaking barriers, and redefining what’s possible.

But there’s still more to do.

We all have a role to play in challenging the stereotypes and biases that continue to limit women and girls in technology.

Because when girls are given the opportunity,
they don’t just participate, they lead.

Women's political participation in Nigeria is still influenced by systemic barriers such as limited funding, structural exclusion, and bias.

In response to these challenges, the Simi Olusola Feminist Political Participation Fellowship designed to equip, support, and amplify a new generation of feminist leaders.

Through research, training, and storytelling, this initiative aims to empower participants and contribute to a growing body of knowledge on women in politics and governance.

Inclusive democracy is not optional; it is essential.

Darkness fell as Jesus breathed His last.
Good's nearness does not prevent death, it enters it.
Grief, loss, and silence are not signs of abandonment.

Good Friday invites us to witness through lament, trusting that God is present even when hope feels buried.

At Aspilos, we prioritize people. We focus on creating the right systems and collaborating with the right teams to achieve a clear purpose and deliver real results.

The Dukiya Project concept was well-defined, and the winner of the second cohort truly exemplified everything the Dukiya Project represents.

She didn’t just have a business idea; she understood her business. Throughout the program, she built a stronger foundation, gained confidence in her financials, and demonstrated a clear readiness for growth.

Her journey reflects the main purpose of Dukiya: to identify committed individuals, support their development, and help them create sustainable businesses that can thrive independently.

This success illustrates Aspilos’ strength in designing structured programs that are not only impactful in theory but also effective in practice.

The Dukiya Project is a testament to what intentional investment in people can achieve.

Implemented over two consecutive years with support from the project delivered measurable impact by equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge and structure needed to build sustainable businesses.

Across both cohorts, participants moved from uncertainty to clarity, transforming early-stage ideas into viable business models, and strengthening existing businesses with practical strategies for growth and visibility.

Through weeks of intensive, hands-on training, participants gained more than knowledge, they gained confidence, direction, and the tools to compete and thrive in their respective markets.

This is the impact we are committed to at Aspilos Foundation: designing programs that are not only inclusive, but transformative and results-driven.

We are actively seeking partners and funders who are committed to empowering communities and driving sustainable economic growth.

Justice takes on many forms, and Nigerian women are proudly among its champions.

From courtrooms to advocacy arenas, women are shaping laws, defending rights, and advocating for systems that benefit everyone.

Representation in justice systems is crucial. When women take the lead, institutions become stronger, rights are better safeguarded, and the path toward equality becomes more defined.

In this Women’s Month, we celebrate the women and organizations using the law as a tool for rights, justice, and action .

Tag a woman who inspires you to stand up for justice. 🥳

Imagine being told you cannot inherit your family property because you’re a woman?

In many communities across Nigeria, cultural norms still significantly influence inheritance and property ownership, often marginalizing women. Widows and daughters frequently find themselves overlooked when it comes to land, homes, and family assets that should rightly belong to them.

However, the law presents a different perspective.

The Nigerian Constitution guarantees freedom from discrimination, and landmark rulings, such as Ukeje v. Ukeje, affirm that daughters have equal rights to inherit family property. Nevertheless, a significant gap remains between legal rights and the realities many women face.

When women are denied property rights, the impact extends beyond the individual. Property ownership is closely linked to economic security, independence, and long-term opportunities. Denying women these rights not only limits their potential but also hinders the growth and stability of entire communities.

As we observe Women’s History Month, let us unite in our efforts to advocate for:
- Women's rights.
- Accessible and fair justice.
- Actions that turn equality from policy into everyday practice.

What are your thoughts on the role of law, culture, and advocacy in protecting women’s inheritance rights in Nigeria?

Giving is never a loss; it is the seed of collective growth. When women thrive, families prosper, communities grow stronger, and societies move forward.

Yet today, the rule of law meant to protect women and girls is weakening in many places, and the consequences are real. Across Nigeria, women and girls continue to face barriers to safety, economic opportunity, education, and leadership.

From gender-based violence to limited access to resources and decision-making spaces, the challenges remain urgent. Women’s rights cannot remain promises written only on paper, they must be lived realities.

This International Women’s Day, we join the global call for Rights. Justice. Action.

Action that strengthens laws.
Action that protects women and girls.
Action that creates real opportunities for them to thrive.

Because when women rise, everyone benefits.

DID YOU KNOW?

Many survivors of sexual assault are unsure of what steps to take immediately after an attack, and this confusion can delay crucial medical care and justice.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, please follow these steps:

1️⃣ Get to safety.
2️⃣ Seek medical care within 72 hours.
3️⃣ Preserve evidence if possible.
4️⃣ Report the incident when you are ready.
5️⃣ Reach out for professional support.

Most importantly, remember: it is NEVER the survivor’s fault.

This Women’s Month, the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls” emphasizes the importance of ensuring that women and girls know their rights and have access to support systems.
