NWALOMA ISUOCHI 2026
Nwalowa Isuochi 2026; a mass return and grand reunion of Ndi Isuochi - home and abroad.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Isuochi is an ancient kingdom in the current Abia State of Nigeriia with nine communities in the kingdom, namely; UMUELEM - Abuga, NDIAWA - Awarikeze, IHIE - Atuga, ACHARA - Egbebi, AMUDA - Logu, UMUAKU - Digbo, MBALA - Aguogba, LOMARA - Egbebi, and NGODO - Araka. Though divided into political zones by government design, Isuochi ancient kingdom is a monarchial kingdom with one paramount stool - the Ochi stool. Isuochi was hitherto carved into Okigwe LGA in the then Imo state. It was later carved into Isuikwuato LGA when Abia was created in 1996. Isuochi later joined with Nneato and Umuchieze to form Umunneochi LGA of Abia State.
POLITICAL WEIGHT OF ISUOCHI:
Isuochi has also produced notable figures in Nigeria at different levels: Chief Jonah Chinyere Achara from Umuaku served as Agent-General for Eastern Nigeria in United Kingdom. Achara layout Enugu was named after him. R. A Iwe is a former member of East Central State Assembly. He is a notable figure from Amuda. The Achara family of Umuaku has produced other influential personalities like Chief Sunday Achara, a parliamentarian and political giant and Dr Onyebuchi Achara.
Senator Uche Chukwumerije from Ngodo was a former Minister for Information and later elected senator of the Federal Republic. Prof. Ihechukwu C. Madubuike from Amuda was elected into the then Imo State House of Assembly, he also served Imo State as a commissioner and served Nigeria as Minister for Health and Minister for Education. Dame Barr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha served Abia as Commissioner, as TC Chairman and later served Nigeria as a member of House of Representatives and also Minister for Labour and Employment. Chief Mrs Chinyere Nwamkpa (nee Ivoko) is Deputy Comptroller of Immigration. Chief Barr E.O Chukwu (Okunamiri) from Ngodo was elected into the Assembly in the then Imo state and later served Nigeria as National Legal Adviser Nigeria Electric Power Authority (NEPA). Chief Nkemdirim Nwigwe from Umuaku served Nigeria as National Security Officer (NSO). Engr Innocent Achugbu is a former Director General, Nigerian Rural Electrification Commission. He is from Ngodo. Dr Dick Ezeibe served in the capacity of Deputy Director Federal Ministry of Works. He is from Umuaku. Late Chukwuenye Enwere from Ngodo was a former Director General of Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State. Mrs Azuka Halliday from Umuaku served Nigeria as Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration. Dr Ibezim Chukwumerije from Ngodo was a one time National Deputy Secretary of NPN. Late Chief Ndidi Okereke was a former State Chairman of PDP and former Board Chairman Federal Medical Center Umuahia. He is from Ngodo. Late Mr Tom Ike from Amuda served Nigeria as Post Master General of NIPOST. High Chief Dr Dozie Chukwumerije is a former Executive Deputy Director, Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority. He is from Ngodo. Late Joe Chukwunenye from Ngodo served Nigeria as INEC commissioner. Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu from Amuda is currently serving as Resident Electoral Commissioner INEC for Enugu state. The current registrar of Council For Registration of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN) is from Isuochi. He is Prof. Austin Madu Uche - a professor of civil engineering.
At the LGA Level:
When in Okigwe LGA, Isuochi son late Chief Oliver Chukwu (Akaraka 1 of Isuochi) from Umuelem reigned as LGA chairman. When in Isuikwuato LGA, two Isuochi sons sat on the chairman's seat; Engr Emma Chukwumerije - Ngodo and Dr Uzor Egbo - Amuda.
In the State Civil Service:
Christopher Okpara (Umuaku) Permanent Secretary. Rich Onyeaso (Ngodo) Permanent Secretary. Rev. Ndeke Dimanochie (Mbala) was long time Permanent Secretary and first Isuochi Head of Service in Abia State. Sir Romanus Madu was Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance. He is from Umuelem. Dr Johnson Uzoatuegwu is also a Permanent Secretary retired, from Umuaku. Lady Joy Dimanochie is a retired Permanent Secretary and Head of Service (LGA). She is from Mbala. Late Engr Sunday Okpara from Mbala served as Permanent Secretary. High Chief O. A Maduadugwo is the first Education Secretary in Isuikwuato LGA.
At the Umunneochi LGA level:
Isuochi has ruled as chairmen through; Chief Billy Achara - Umuaku, Chief Ugochukwu Ekwu - Lomara, Chief Chidiebere Udeh - Ngodo, Barr Okey Igwe - Amuda and Sunday Afurobi. Other chairmen who served as Transition Chairmen include; Chief Okereke (Scarter) Umeji, Dame Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Dr Jasper Uche, Barr Chima Mgbeke, Chief Mrs Ijeoma Okorie. Chief Ugochukwu Okpara, Chief Barr Chikamnayo Eze and Mr Ndubuisi Ike.
IN THE MILITARY AND POLICE FORCE:
We have Rtd Major Gen. Moses O. Uzor from Umuaku, Rtd Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Kachi Udorji from Mbala. We have Brigadier General Obinna Uzodinma Eke (Dikedinamba). He is from Umuelem. There is also Major General Arnold Onyekachi Okoro from Achara. Rtd Col. Bernard U Okorie is from Umuaku. Lt. Col. Godwin Eze from Lomara is currently serving in Ibadan, Oyo state. T.I.C Uzor is retired Deputy Commissioner of Police. He is from Ngodo.
DELINEATION OF ISUOCHI:
Umunneochi has four zones out of which Isuochi took two; zones one (1) and two (2). Nneato is zone three (3) and Umuchieze is zones four (4). Umunneochi LGA has twelve (12) electoral wards out of which Isuochi took six (6). Nneato has three (3) and Umuchieze has three (3). Umunneochi has seventy-two (72) autonomous communities. Isuochi took thirty six (36) leaving Nneato and Umuchieze to share thirty-six (36).
ISUOCHI NWERE MMADU:
In the private sector, we have industrialists, top class businessmen and professionals scattered all over the world. Arch. Kaycee Orji is a ready example. He is the CEO of Roxettes Motors. He is from Mbala. High Chief Achu Nwabunna (Akubuilo) is the CEO of Ziggy Table Waters. He is from Mbala. High Chief Engr Ochiabuto Orji (Okosisi) is the CEO Naturetech Table Waters. He is from Amuda. High Chief Dr Dozie Chukwumerije is the CEO Tehilah International Schools Enugu. High Chief Etomchukwu Alaekwe (Akuchinyeremba) is the CEO Greenville Schools Lagos - a premium private school. He is from Ngodo. High Chief Dr Kenneth Uzoigwe (Osike Umunneochi) is the CEO Kelin Hotels Limited Lagos. He is from Ngodo. High Chief Ekene Mgbeahuruike (Mmirimaraego) is a household name in the haulage sector. He is from Umuaku. Late High Chief Pharm Ndidi Okereke (Nwachinyeremba) is the CEO Nkoyo Chemist Ltd. He is from Ngodo. Dr Chris Ike, President/CEO of Social Circle Pharmacy, Georgia, USA. He is from Amuda. High Chief Dr Chris Odinaka Igwe (Mgboejiagbaenyi) is the CEO, Mainland Oil and Gas. He is from Amuda. Chief Sir Catalyst James Okorie Chukwu from Umuelem is the CEO, C-Jecro International. Apostle Engr Monday Enwere is the CEO Moncordel Hospital and Moncordel Schools Portharcourt. He is from Umuelem. High Chief Murphy Madubuike is the CEO and Managing Director, GBC Murphy Ltd. He is from Ngodo. High Chief Mattias Ukaigwe is the CEO Omenma Oil and Gas Ltd. He is from Umuaku. Chief Engr Emeka Madubuike (Okpataozuo oha) is the CEO Systemtech Ltd. He is from Ngodo. Ikenna Onuabueke (Ngwuneringwu) is from Ihie. He is the CEO Billion Hotels Awka. Amb. Emma and Uche Ibeh are the Ibeh brothers - (exemplary brothers). They are the Chief Executive officers of Harmony Steel Ltd and Ibeh Investments Ltd. They are from Ngodo. Dr Nkem Chukwumerije is the Executive Medical Director TSPMG Georgia. Chief Nduka Madu is the CEO Mainsea Oil and Gas Limited. Don Ogu Harrison is the Golden Son of Isuochi. He is a philanthropist of note. He attracted roads in Ngodo even as a private person. Ihegazie Umeh (Ozoigbondu) is a notable philanthropist in Ngodo. Chief Ekenedilichukwu Agha (Agha Global) is the CEO Newline Shipping Ltd. He is from Ngodo. High Chief Kelechi Okorie (Akubaraoha) is the CEO Standpoint Clearing and Logistics Company Ltd. He is from Ngodo. High Chief Ikenna Onyegbule (Onwachinyeremba) is the CEO IkeGod Pharmaceuticals. Arc Munachi Okorocha is a world class Architect from Mbala. Chief Collins Okorie (Kongo) is the Vice Chairman Imperial Philantropic Club, world wide. He is also the CEO Indigo Bar Lagos. He is from Ngodo. There are several other unsung technocrats and entrepreneurs across the world who are Isuochians. I may not be able to note all of them but the bottom line is that ISUOCHI NWERE MADU.
IN ACADEMICS:
H.R.H Eze Prof. S. I Nwankwo is a professor of Chemistry. He is the first professor in Isuochi. He retired a professor from University of Benin. He is now a Royal father of note. Chief D. N Achara is the author ALABINGO - popular bestseller in Nigeria Literary sector. Chief S.C Adigo is the proprietor of Isuochi Commercial College, the first private college in Isuochi. The immediate past Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike Umuahia is Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe. He is from Amuda. The Rector of College of Agriculture Ishiagu, Ebonyi state is Prof. Mrs Uzoma Mgbada (Ada Araka). She is from Ngodo. Prof. Sunday Ndubueze Ukachukwu from Ngodo is a former Vice Chancellor Wesley University Ondo state and now Dean College of Animal Science, Umudike. Prof. Chukwudi Onyeaso is Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), University of Portharcourt , Prof Mrs Matthews-Njoku Ijele is from Ngodo,
Prof Agaezi Vivian Azoro is from Amuda. Others are; Prof. Ezionye Eboh, Prof. Sunday Nduka, Rev. Engr Prof. Chima Madubuike. Prof. Gazie Okpara is a Deputy Vice Chancellor in Abia State University, Uturu. He is from Ngodo. Prof. Goddy Okpara is a senior University Don also in Abia state University. He is from Ngodo. Dr Udeagha Onwuka is a senior lecturer in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. He is from Ngodo. Dr Jasper Uche is a senior lecturer in University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is from Umuaku. Prof. Mercy Nnabugwu is a senior Don in University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is from Ngodo. High Chief E.O Aham from Umuelem is a senior lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Uwanna, Afikpo. Cmrd Uche Ogbuagu from Ngodo is a holder of two bachelor degrees and three masters from University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Torrens and University of Newcastle in Australia. Dr Mrs Obiajulum Ajala is a retired Principal Federal Government College. She is from Ngodo.
ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS:
We have notable Isuochians in Nigerian movie industry. They include veteran actor and TV personality Hayez Nduchebe Achu. He is from Ngodo. Hon. Uche Dim fromm Umuaku is a former councillor and former commissioner. He is a giant figure in Nollywood. Gospel Onyeañusi is an actor and skit maker. He is from Ngodo. Super Eagle star Onyeka Frank is from Mbala. There is Cristiano Ekene Anah from Obinolu Ngodo who plays for Brighton and Hove Albion in English Premier League. How can we forget Sampson Ibeabuchi (Pistor Killer) from Ngodo. What about his son Ike Ibeabuchi (the President) - a world heavyweight boxer. Giant Alakuku was held as the tallest man in Africa. He is from Mbala.
AMONG THE CLERGY:
In the Catholic Church, Isuochi is well represented. Rev. Fr Monsignor Patrick Obike - Amuda is the first indigenous Catholic priest in Isuochi. Other priests are Fr. Paul Nwakor - Ngodo, Fr Christopher Chukwu (SMMM) - Umuaku, Fr Vincent Amusuo - Ngodo, Fr Christian Nwaigwe - Umuaku, Fr Sylvester Ihebuike - Ngodo. Rt. Rev. S.O. Eze from Lomara is Bishop of the Methodist Church. Rt. Rev. Dr. John Eze from Umuaku is a Bishop of Methodist Church Nigeria. Rt. Rev. Peter Dim from Umuaku is a Bishop of Methodist Church. Rev Izuegbu Uwaezuoke from Amuda is the first Methodist minister in Isuochi. The founder of United Church of Christ (UCC) is Apostle Samuel Egbo from Amuda. Pastor Paul Igwe is the General Overseer of Dominion Faith International Ministry.
THE EVENT AT A GLANCE:
When you hear the term "NWALOWA", what comes to your mind? It's a novel initiative under the reign of Engr Ochy Orji as the National President Isuochi Community Development Association, and Dr Mrs Obiajulum Ajala - National President ICDA women wing. It is slightly different from the August meeting of women termed 'nwalowa'. This edition is an advanced version of the homecoming. Nwalowa 2026 event is propelled by the indefatigable Dr Chris Ike as the chairman Central Planning Committee. Behind him is the double chairperson Publicity & Awareness and Entertainment Subcommittees Lady Onyedikachi Madu PhD. Other Subcomittee heads working tirelessly to ensure successful outcome are;

Nwalowa is a call for mass return of all Isuochi people living at home and in diaspora. This reunion is an opportunity for everyone to reunite with families and old friends, school mates and contemporaries, meet new friends made probably from the social media, and most importantly make new friends. During this reunion, we showcase our rich culture to our people and to the world. On display would be cultural dance, masquerade displays, local flute performance (igbu oja), local acrobatics (ida iya), beauty parade, etc. Local foods and drinks that will be on display include; Akidi, Odudu, Ede, Akpu, Iwu, Ona la Ngu, Akpaka, Ukwa, Plantain, Yam, Ngwongwo, Mmi ngwo, Nkwu Elu etc. There will be floating standard restaurants in the venue for families breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the four days. There will also be outdoor bars and musics to make the festival evenings thick. The Isuochi Unity Uniform which is already on sale is a customized george wrapper. It will be adorned during the event over white chieftaincy for men and white blouse for women.
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF ISUOCHI:
Isuochi is in Abia yet has boundaries with Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu states. It is situated at the center of five southeastern states of Nigeria. Isuochi is one of the three towns that make up UMU-NNE-OCHI LGA (UMU for Umuchieze, NNE for Nneato and OCHI for Isuochi) For the records, Isuochi is the capital of Umunneochi LGA with headquarters at Nkwoagu.
HISTORIC REORDS:
1. The first Storey building in Isuochi is in Umuaku built by late Chief Haliday.
2. The first police officer in Isuochi is late Sergeant Ogbonnaya Chukwumerije.
3. The first pharmacist in Isuochi is late HRM Pharm Elebeke Okorocha from Mbala.
4. The first medical in Isuochi is Dr Dick Onyeasor from Ngodo.
AWARDS AND HONOURS:
There wiill be award presentation to deserving and meritorious sons and daughters of Isuochi and also to some friends of Isuochi during the event. This is in recognition of their philanthropy and outstanding service to the ancient kingdom of Isuochi. The event will be used to raise fund for Isuochi projects. We entreat you to come prepared.

There will be super and fortified security all round Isuochi before, during and after the carnival.
